Agenda Item 1. Action Points from Last meeting

All action points from last meeting were addressed and either discharged or carried forward within the context of this months minutes.

The need to sort out the Banking arrangements with Graham Lawlar was once again on the agenda. We need to sort out Graham as treasure to have access to and to be able to sign cheques. To achieve this function the 3 persons named on the account have to attend the Bank together. A/P NV JB and CH to get together and arrange. It was also stressed that the possible inclusion of the need to have two signatures maybe an advantage in the running of the finances.May need to look at changing Bank and maybe a 3rd SignatureOngoing Arrange a compatible date for all concerned.

Skipton 2010 needs the winner inserting when the engraving next gets done A/P SG Ongoing

Agenda Item 2. Treasurers Monthly Report

The Treasurer report was presented to the meeting and showed the years funds still in the black. The account will be still in the black after all the seasons final costs are paid. Yet to pay out are the Charitable Donations, Engraving of Trophies and the Mini bus costs for Stockton on Forest pad out by NAV and now payable due to Visa bill being received!!

Although the account is still healthy we will have to re think our strategies for next years outgoings due to the fact that incomings will be reduced

One issue we will need to address are the money raising ventures we run through the pub to raise monies not only for our org but also for charity. These include the meat raffle and the Bonus ball incomes. With regards to the meat raffle we will have to approach the new owners to see if we can run this as per normal on a Sunday teatime. Malcolm is to try and resurrect this venture.

The Bonus Ball which was run by John Barker was suspended on the 31st August 2011 due to the fact that it will be very difficult to run now that we do not have a permanent presence within the pub. All winners of the Bonus Ball up to that date will be honoured. All payments paid up front beyond 31st August will be returned and all payments owing by members will be expected to be honoured.

We may resurrect the Bonus Ball scheme in the near future within the golf membership but will have to decide on the format in order to ease the collection and payment of monies. We currently have 25 Golfing members with numbers, the rest being made up from regulars of the pub. It would be relatively easy to collect from the golfing fraternity but collecting from others proves difficult in the current set up, which is the main reason for cancelling the fund raiser.

The rebalancing of how we fund our Society as you can imagine was high on the agenda due to the fact that Income will be down and we will have to rebalance how we subsidise our outings.

Suggestions to rebalance are numerous and will need debating and formulating over the winter moths in time for the start of next seasons outings.

Some Suggestions include 1. Increasing the membership subs from £35 to £??,

2. Increasing the standard outing payment from £30 per outing to £?? Per Outing

3. Incorporating the Hole in One membership entry into normal membership as an insurance but if no one wins then the funds go into the club coffers.

4. Push for even better deals with the Golf Clubs we choose for our outings

5. Running a raffle on Match days

Charity payments for this year will be approx in the region of £1000 made up of £400 to benefit the ABF (Army Benevolent Fund) and £600 to the Children’s Charity Debra. The amount to the ABF was pledged earlier this year and a Cheque will be sent to Debra for the amount agreed A/P NAV Sam will find out the local benefactor with whom we can contact to arrange the transfer of funds.

Agenda Item 3. Venues for 2012 Order of Merit

DateVenueTee Off FormatOrganiserSponsor

Venue proposals for next year are now being formulated, with many suggestions that we look at visiting the Red Rose county with clubs like Rochdale and Burnley being looked at. Also on the agenda for next year Knaresborough is a strong contender

Keighley golf club is being looked into as a venue for next year by Dave Pascall who is a member of the Club. When next years itinerary is put together Keighley will be contacted to find a suitable date to accommodate.

A block email will be sent to the clubs we are interested in to formulate the itinerary for next season A/P NAV

Agenda Item 4 Knockout Comp

The knockout cups have reached theFinal stages in both comps and is on course to finish on time.

In the knockout Final Wes Walker has lost to Stewart Griffiths by a short putt !!!!! and in the Plate Final Nigel Viney still has to play Graham Walker.

Agenda Item 5. Social

We have looked into the possibility of organising the end of season Dinner before the end of year. Unfortunately the dates offered are not suitable for one reason or another. Therefore the end of season dinner will take place at Halifax Golf Club on Saturday the 28th January 2012. The event will be advertised in the near future with an email to all A/P NAV Malc will co ordinate the dinner requirements with the Golf Club and Sam will organise the Disco

We may organise an alternative social get together on another date.

Agenda Item 6. AOB

At the end of August John and Billy left the building of the Shant to move to pastures new. This should not impact with the running of the society as we are independent of all Ties to the Public House apart from our Trophy cabinet and Trophies held on site. The new owners have been tentatively approached and welcome the fact that there the Society run from the establishment.

A debate was held as to everyone’s thoughts on where we should be based, or indeed if we need to change our base at all.

The consensus of opinion was that although much change had taken place, there was no reason to up root and relocate our organisation for the sake of it. The Shant Public House is to remain our base until a situation arises that gives us cause for concern and the need to talk about any changes required.

Concerns re the D/Q situation we run was answered by stating that it is up to the individual to mark and check their own cards correctly.. It is not sufficient to just put down the gross score and expect the organisers to work out the true scoreAll our games are stableford and therefore a points game, if the points are wrong then the card is wrong.

On golf outings will all players keep to the stipulated times on the Format for the day, this will enable sufficient gaps between all groups that are attending the day. We are constantly being challenged by players complaining of slow play. This is not always the fault of the players in front but by groups rushing to get out on the first Tee. Abiding by the formulated times could help to alleviate this situation.

The way we play the last game of the season using the Order of Merit method is to change once again. Next years contenders and those players going into the last game as leaders will go out last on the last outing.

The Hole in one club although not won once again, will have the funds drawn between the membership at the annual dinner. Just to clarify that if there ever is a winner it will be the first person to have a Hole in One will take the whole Pot.

Handicaps were once again on the menu, it was decided that it was best to leave any decision making re handicaps to our handicap duo, Tweeker and Twokker!!

Lastly we all wish Allan Gill a speedy recovery and hope He is back playing Golf with us soon. Thanks to Gramps for the card He created and sent to Allan to cheer Him up, I am sure it did the trick!!
