Minutes of Monthly Public Meeting, 5/2/11

STRATHAM SOCCER

Stratham Municipal Center

Members Present:Aidan Barry, Jon Hoyt, Sherri Ritz, Allison Rubin, Deb Gilvar, Kerry Glance, Dan O’Keefe, Mike West

Absent: Andy Richards, Tracey Abbott, and Harvey Bierman

7:00pm:Minutes were reviewed and approved.

Kick Wall

Double sided Kick wall at Stephens
Stratham Family collected approx $365 in donations which will be applied to a kick wall at Stevens Field
Draw up proposal
Tom Haslam – community service project for eagle scouts to work on developing and constructing a kick wall at Stevens Field
Dan and Aidan will go to look at field
Placement of kick wall is still under discussion (far end, between two field, by playground)
May 23rd is the next selectman’s meeting – check to make sure that we can present our proposal – Dan O’Keefe
The board pending a decision on the best location approved proposal for construction of a kick wall. Our preference is for a double sided wall

Seacoast

Develop a soccer community
Coaches training for all parents coaching in the fall – Seacoast will provide 4 coaches
Coach mentor for season
No cost to us but required to run a $10 a day clinic, for set number of weeks, with a min of 50 registrants

Develop a mock weekly schedule for seacoast – Concern is that they may not be able to accommodate our needs for mentoring theses programs.
Travel teams and ¾ coaches
If we choose to use Seacoast for our camp, can they handle the numbers we get
$10 coupon toward offered to be used for clinic upon registering for fall program
Motion to made to look into Seacoast as our mentor and partner with Stratham Soccer

Administrative Affairs

Need to be assured by the Rec commission to promptness of signing and approving contracts, payment approval

Travel Teams

Registration will be on line
Add time requirements 2 practices a week and games on Sat and Sun
4th and 5th grade travel team parent meeting May 26th in Community Room @6:30-7:30pm

Camp

Tent – Exeter Rental v Marshall’s – Still awaiting quotes
Seth will call back to make sure Exeter’s cost includes set up. How much for a smaller second tent? – Seth
Port a Pots – Seth wants them there for the summer
We may just have to pay for the extras we need
Water
Following up with Jon
Working on some type of water system but need power
Seth is looking about the availability for electricity
Sherri, Allison, and Kerry will attend the Parent Information Night
Questions for Challenger
Has Jordan ever directed a camp
When will we know our director
Decided to not offer all girls groupings for camp

Action Item

Aidan will talk with Paul Willis about tryouts –
Sherri will send an intro email to Paul
Draw up proposal and bring up to selectman – Dan O’Keefe
Everyone needs to review the bylaws
Encourage that the selectman and rec commission check the website for info happening with soccer
Sherri and Aidan will ask Seacoast about staffing for ¾ and travel programs.
Dan and Aidan will go to look at field to see optimal place – Friday May 6th @ 6pm
Seth will call about tents – size quotes, need it set up, and Price for another smaller tent
Sherri to follow up with Seth about port-a-pots
Allison, Sherri, and Kerry to work on Agenda for Parent info night
Sherri/Seth will follow up with Greenland about our ¾ discussion

Aidan and Harvey will be working on revising the bi-laws, mission, and coaches, player conduct policies. Will review via email and at our next meeting. – On going
Sherri and Allison will work on revising mission vision (statement) and values – on going
Jon will look into history of rec soccer for grades 7/8 – on going
Sherri will call Deb to talk about shirt orders – on going
Investigate ¾ programs to include - Referees at the rec program and travel – passed
Dan will work on an Annual Schedule
Aidan to investigate having an outside source run a mini camp – skill development, outcomes
