5.2 / Communications- Glenn represents NEAG at NC Committee meetings
5.3 / Dumping
Dumping at the Ross Demolition site on Noordhoek Main Road: Glenn lodged an official complaint with the CoCT as well as advising the Department of Water Affairs, but has heard nothing. The future of the site is unknown. Is it licensed? Glenn to check this with DWAF
Dumping of tree cuttings below Chapman’s Peak Drive: BL reported that Entilini workers have been throwing tree cuttings below the road. Trevor Abrahams (Entilini) was approached by Bill and the cuttings have been removed. Bill is thanked fro following this up. / GA
5.4 / Planning Applications
All planning applications received from council are noted in our minutes – See Planning Application Register attached as Appendix. Two new applications received.
Wine Farm
Application in process for picnics, 2 restaurants (Wedding venue and Wine tasting).. NEAG submitted comments.
An Events Permit has not been granted. The weekly market is operating illegally.
These events continue and apparently the developer is litigating with the city council.
New application: “Community market” on wine farm: Objections are due by 12 June. NEAG committee to examine the summary if issues sent to them by Rory, and to submit comments to him asap. Rory to collate briefly and submit on NEAG’s behalf. / INFO

Kaolin Mine
The developer has appealed against the revised conditions of approval. Comments on this appeal submitted. NEAG opposes the appeal and supports the original revised conditions of approval. / INFO
Monkey Valley Resort
APPLICATION NO. 214338 APPLICATION FOR REZONING, SUBDIVISION, CONDITIONAL USE AND DEPARTURES: ERVEN 443, 445, 434, AND CAPE FARM 932-118 CAPE TOWN AT NOORDHOEK, MOUNTAIN ROAD
Comments were submitted on 9th December. Nothing to report. / INFO
Long Beach Mall
The landscaping of new car park is to be implemented in the Spring. A meeting took place on 18th March. The Environmental Management Committee (on which Glenn represents NEAG) met and made recommendations re landscaping and tree planting. / INFO
Sun Valley Mall
The existing mall is to be demolished and redeveloped. Glenn submitted a letter to the new mall owners (Checkers) requesting community involvement in the planning. No reply so far. Glenn will re-approach them. / INFO
Ou Kaapse Weg
The Basic Assessment Report describes two possible alterations to the junction with Silvermine Rd. they appear to be equally acceptable on environmental and practical grounds, and NEAG has no objections to raise, but notes and supports SANPARKS concern about rehabilitation of the natural vegetation after the work is done. Nothing to report, except that NEAG supports the FSCPF in their efforts. / GA
Restaurant cor Chapman’s Peak Drive/Avondrust Circle
NEAG objected on various grounds, as did numerous local residents. Our website provided information on the matter.
5.5 / Ward Committee
Cecil, as ward representative, attends meetings. NEAG proposes that several things need funding: 1. there is an urgent need to remove Madeira Creeper in Noordhoek (see later) and 2. Bollards should be placed along main road to prevent dangerous parking near the Farm Village commercial centre. / INFO, CW
5.6 / Tee Shirts
Zimbabalooba now stock NEAG T-shirts, as advertised on the NEAG website. Cecil is looking at the design of NEAG caps / INFO
5.7 / CPNW / INFO
The latest news on the long-standing quest for the use of the disused section of the forestry buildings – the request has been passed on to the Property Management section of council. We continue to wait in hope. CPNW are probably the best line of approach
5.8 / Noordhoek Common - Glenn represents NEAG on the NC common committee. Nothing to report. / INFO

5.9 / Several new members signed up during the beach clean-up. The committee approved all applications for membership. / INFO
5.10 / Beach clean-up.
This was very successful and elicited a good response, with about 35 people assisting. In particular, a lot of attention was drawn to the problem of dog faeces, as people were made aware just how much accumulates. Cecil is thanked for organising the clean-up. The committee decided that it would be worth having clean-ups twice each year. / INFO

5.12 / Alien Vegetation
Since bill brought to the attention of the committee that the very dangerous invader, Madeira vine (or creeper), is smothering some Milkwoods at Monkey Valley and has appeared in the thicket below Beach Road, he visited the sites with representatives from the Council and SANPARKS. They discussed the problem and are to plan removals. Bill to keep informed.
Bill sent a letter to De Goede Hoop Estate about backup clearing on its previous alien clearing project and a response is awaited.
