77/16MATTERS ARISING

Village Hall

  • A letter was received from Mr. David Wall JP regarding the Village Hall Refurbishment. Mr. Wall commented that this was a lovely community asset but felt it right and proper to comment on serious concerns regarding the suitability of the Hall in terms of being a safe and accessible building in particular for the disabled. This letter was discussed fully and it was resolved that the clerk was to reply thanking Mr. Wall for his helpful letter with many good points in it. However, the problem with the refurbishment was due to the restriction of space in the building and as much space as possible was given to the provision of disabled access.
  • Excess materials following the building work on the kitchen – these were discussed but no resolution on this matter.

Speeding

  • The clerk commented she had contacted Reedness Parish Council for their views on the Dragon’s Teeth and this will be discussed at their meeting in November.

These plans have now been approved.

DEFIBRILLATOR – ADLINGFLEET

A letter was received and circulated from Mr. Peter Lee regarding obtaining a defribrillator for Adlingfleet Village. This was discussed in full and Mr. Lee was invited to speak to the meeting on this matter. He had identified that the best choice of site for the defib was the telephone kiosk on Garthorpe Road and this was agreed by all. The clerk advised that she had attended a meeting with Julie Reed at the Constituency Office in Goole and Julie had suggested that it might be possible to do an Awards for All bid to cover 50% of the cost of the defibrillator. It was resolved that Twin Rivers Parish Council would pay the other 50% and the clerk would then be able to claim the VAT. Julie is to get an updated quote on the equipment supply so that we have exact figures. In the meantime, Cllr. Barrett suggested that the clerk write to Karen Wood to advise that Twin Rivers would like to purchase the kiosk from BT for £1.
