MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING & MATTERS ARISING
The minutes of the last meeting (Nov 13) were agreed as a true record

J McGillivray gave an up-date on some points from the last minutes –
Sheriff Court House – to go on market shortly.
Tree Survey – TEC tied up with winter maintenance but Jim to now review and set priorities.
Stafford Court – to start this year.
Stagecoach – minutes of last meeting were circulated.
Embo St Junction – Neil Gillies has also been out to look at the area. Some improvements and traffic calming to be done.
Abattoir – no update
Beach Car Park – work on this area will progress shortly.
Information Panels – The last time round the CC paid for the rights to the artwork images, and having them mounted on the panels. Members asked what has happened to the original artwork which was commissioned. Y Ross to email C Ferne, cc to Judi.
Burghfield Hotel – garden area is being cleared for the purposes of horticultural courses.
Gum Buster Machine – coming in February and will clear all affected areas.
Beach Shelter – 1 quote in, 2 further to come in. With regard to the framework for applying to get on the Council list of approved contractors, Jim felt that an advertisement in the NT to encourage businesses, and he will help any business complete the application process.
PRESENTATION BY CATRIONA GRIGG
Catriona is running a government funded project, managed by VAM, called Community Safety Research Programme, looking at the effects of sectarianism and how it affects communities. Her remit covers the geographical area of Wick to Dingwall. Is keen to speak to as many CC’s as possible to make them aware of the project, and is also speaking to as many local Clergy as possible. She circulated her own contact details, and asked that if any member wished to speak to her with any views, all comments will be kept confidential. Y Ross suggested that she also speaks to the Sutherland Youth Forum.
POLICE MATTERS
Constable Neil Bremner attended the meeting.
Domestic Violence Campaign is ongoing.
Road Safety Campaign is ongoing. (seatbelts, DD, etc)
No major issues since the last meeting, only 1 arrest to report at the end of the night of the Hogmanay Street Party (not local).
TREASURERS REPORT
No report this month.
PATHWAYS
Station Road – should now be done. J McGillivray to continue to look at this with Matt Dent. Steps at the beach to be looked at. Roderick Court pathway at side of houses still needs attention but this does not come under Highland Council.
ROADS
Bollards at the Mercat Cross moved and paving has lifted. This has been reported. Fleuchary Bridge pot hold and dip in the road have not been repaired.
It was noted that some of the areas in Rearquhar have trees overhanging the road and this can be damaging to vans and other larger vehicles.
Whitelining for Station Road still to be done.
Discussion about the parking/drop off at the school on Evelix Road. It was noted that the post of janitor is to be replaced with “Facilities Managers” who may look after a cluster of schools. Letter to go to Hugh Fraser, Eductation.
Proncynain Cemetery parking has also been raised about the hazard cars cause parking on the road. Update from TEC Services regarding space at the burial ground – to date, 68 lairs left with an extension due within next 2 years. Currently working on drawings/designs. Judi to email C Stewart, TEC.
PLANNING MATTERS
No applications for discussion.
Members discussed the issues around not getting paper copies of applications.
Aircraft Hangers – Dornoch Air Strip. Seek further information on this from Dickie Bird.
Camore Quarry consultation – some members attended this on 19 Dec. J Sutherland asked where is the community benefit from this. No response from developers. No formal application in for this at present. Put on agenda for the next meeting.
FUNDING APPLICATIONS
No applications but thanks from ESRA for their recent funding.

400 years of Golf – Street Party inAugust 2016 (to coincide with last day of festival week) traditional ceilidh in the marquee followed by a dance.
Christmas lights account – paperwork to be done again for authorised signatories.
Tourist Guides – currently gathering in any income.

Request for a dog waste bag dispenser at Cnoc an Lobht.
Junction of Murray Road/Murray Road, lots of loose branches all over the road, maybe after recent cutting back.
Rear entrance for Coop, an issue with cigarette butts not being put in bins and causing a problem blocking drains etc. Write to the Coop.

Drainage issue between the end of Fleuchary Road and the burn.

Congratulations to both RDGC at being recognised at the 6th best course in the world, and also to Dornoch Academy for their results.
Forestry Community Renewable Scheme – open for communities to apply (this is in the form of a loan which would be repaid dependent on success of project). Judi suggested a subgroup be formed to look at this in conjunction with any other community group which may be interested).

Dornoch Public Toilets – issues arose of the toilet block not being reopened after New Year. Asked for a response from TECs but nothing received by the time of this meeting.
