Minutes of BMW MCCC meeting 28 january 2014

Welcome:

Warren welcomed all on the 1st meeting of 2014. Also last meeting at the Multi Motor club premises. Will inform the meeting more about it during this meeting. A special welcome to Mike, who was a founder member of the club.

The bar is on the house tonight which will also be the last time – more about that, too, later in the meeting.

-01/12/2013: Pete: 2 groups: Level 1 and Level 2. Anura farm – biker friendly farm, restaurant food good. Had a very successful day of training. Had 2 groups for Level 1: Neels and Peter trainers. Level 2 with John Carr and Arno Rossouw

-7,8/12/2013: Warren - Klipbok kop – 982 kms. Nice campsite

-08/12/2013: Brian took the Breakfast ride– Houwhoek – 6 bikes

-14-16/12/2013: Warren - Buffelspoort – Thank u GR – 16 plastic bikes. Warren landed in die deep end of the dam - bike, nor Warren floated. Johan Gerber incident, got him to doctor, Grant Pistor took him to George hospital in Range Rover. Johan in good spirit.

-15/01/2014: GR – mid week ride: Arniston for lunch – 41 bikes – a lot of new faces & pillion. ±600 kms. There will be another ride in Febr.

-18,19/01/2014: Warren: Champagne – campsite 2 m under water. Next option was Boegoeberg – had first timers and converted roadies (Jacques Botha) – good weekend and shortened some of the roads due to heat. Got to campsite early, swam, supper. Wolfgang claimed he lost his wallet. Adie had front wheel blow out, surfed the bike and came off. Adie receive a sign My gat gesien sonder ‘n spieël.

-GR apologised for the Donford breakfast ride and club breakfast ride that clashed – 26/01/2014: Donford Breakfast ride – 55 people, 42 bikes – got early @ restaurant for breakfast, Die Veldskoen, De Doorns. Extended ride via Ceres

-26/01/2014: Andy: Beginners ride: Teslaarsdal ride – 20 bikes – 25 people – Pete assisted, 2 groups. Did a lot of training, lots of first timers on gravel, new member bike died, towed him, pillioned him. Shameer had taken rest of group. Cyrils Trading post new venue (Greyton) – hearty welcome to BMW MCCC – looked well after us. Ride back via Helderstroom, Genadendal. FBOS. Story about guy en-route that dropped his bike several times – he dehydrated, heat exhaustion = good lesson. Nice ride

-9/3/2014: Andy: Races – marshalling – 3 races We need 6 marshalls for 4 day event with good riding skills and off roading, ARGUS 11 marshalls. Andy cannot do all, need assistance, can earn some money for marshalls and organisers – opportunity.

-Workshop/training sessions: Pete and Andy – fundamentals of packing, marshall training, ride leader training. Will be nice to have more ride leaders. A lot of room for fresh blood as Warren stand off as chairman/committee member. A lot of organising for ride leaders, but a lot of fun.

GENERAL:

-Subs R120.00 per annum payable

-Liquor licence a problem – booze for free for Nov & Jan – we did research – Neels & Hennie attend meetings – time to think of another venue. From February 2014 our meetings will be at Goodwood Sports club. Very stunning venue and facilities. 30 of our members must become country members. Have full membership. 30 memberships, complete application forms tonight. Club will pay annual fees.
