The Region will hold U6-U12 clinics on May 14. The Region is trying to get people on board to attend Advanced/Intermediate coaches’ clinics on May 7-8 at Arcadia High School. Jeff was asked to send an email to PROs about the intermediate clinic.

Treasurer’s Report: Troy Sheen

Through the first nine months of the fiscal year, indications are that the Region should have a fiscal surplus this year.

The Region donated $9,500 to three charitable causes.

The Region’s main account has $127,000 in it. The US Bank tournament account has $14,000.

There was not a lot of activity this past month.

Field expenses may go up if the Region utilizes Field 1 for next year

The fiscal budget for 2017 was presented to the Board for approval. Mark Garscia moved to approve. Second by David Lans. Approved unanimously.

Referee Report –Frank Bagheri:

There will be an intermediate referee clinic on April 17. It will be one day, all day, instead of the usual 2.

At the Area referee dinner, Region 88 was recognized as having certified the most referees - 301.

All our encouraged to help Vartan with his scheduling requests.

Most grad series games have been covered by 3-person crews.

Robert Parada is getting requests from PRO referees for regional courses.

VIP Report – Tom Regan:

Per Aldo, the Region has signed up 10 players for VIP.

10-15 kids showed up for the VIP clinic. There was little turnout from R88.

Tom noted that Region 2 has a link to a 10-15minute video for non-volunteer VIP parents to look at.

RC/Registrar Report – Aldo Mascheroni:

The Area meeting dealt in large part with YDP. There are issues with schedule always changing.

It was suggested that perhaps Region 88 do a spring YDP-type league in-house.

It was suggested that to stop stretching volunteers too thin, that the Region find volunteers first and then find players. South Pas gets referees first and then signs up players. It was difficult to find coaches for spring soccer this year in Region 88. Aldo suggested that perhaps this method should be applied for next spring.

Graduation Series has one weekend left, maybe 2 if it rains this weekend.

Coaches need to take concussion awareness training.

U4 – there are about 60 kids signed up. Parents are volunteering to coach.

There used to be standard region guidelines. Shawn Migliaccio will look at re-wording region guidelines. Scott Nord suggested that the appeal process be better-defined.

Referee dinner is on Sunday April 10.

Registration is on April 16.

Aldo read a letter from Capital Group donating $500 based on 50 hours spent volunteering by Armen Cazian. $4,000 should be coming in from Disney. Armen was recognized by Aldo for his work in updating the web site. Also, Shawn was instrumental in setting things up for registration.

Ross Paulson mentioned that volunteer referees are needed for middle school games on Thursdays. Referees should not wear any AYSO badges or show any affiliation with AYSO. People need to know that AYSO people are NOT doing the games. It was also mentioned that the Region’s referees are getting taken advantage of doing these games for free and at the same time are being verbally abused by some coaches. It is up to each individual referee to referee games if they want to do it.

The Region has registered 1261 players. 975 are pre-registered. The Region has 233 head coaches – 80 short of a full slate. The Region has 141 assistant coaches.

Meeting adjourned at 7:54pm.
