Minutes for Worship and Music Team

7/28/15 5:30 pm

We opened meeting with a meditation and prayer.

Summer Services:

The 9:30 time and blended style was well received.

Outside campfire services will continue through August 26.

Two services:

•We will go to two services (8:00 and 10:15) on September 13, 2015

•The last 9:30 combined service will be Labor Day weekend on September 6.

•We will use Setting 8 in the ELW for 8:00 am and Contemporary style for 10:15am services.

• Children will have the opportunity to play instruments at the early service as well as the late service.

•Assisting ministers may be a part of our upcoming services: scripted greeting announcements and response Psalms are examples of having Lay people be more part of the service.

•A discussion was held about getting more people involved as musicians. Sign-up sheets and on-line sign-up is not working. The committee decided people need to be individually invited and those people also need to have some sort of commitment.

Bell choir:

Bell choir has a tentative schedule of playing on the following dates: October 25, December 20, February 21, Easter Sunday March 27, and May 23. First rehearsal will be Sunday September 13.

Choir:

•Deb Welander reported on attending a worship music workshop in MNPLS. She will be selecting some new choir anthems from this session and gained some new choral rehearsal techniques and found some new music literature for the upcoming year.

•There will be a Choir Picnic at Welander’s: Thursday September 3 @ 5:30pm. Interested new members are encouraged to join us.

•The first rehearsal will be Sunday September 13 at 9:20 and Singing at the 10:15

•The schedule will be on-line by beginning of September

•A fund will be started for a new choir piano. A discussion was held about how we can let people know and how to promote getting this new piece of equipment. $5000.00 is needed to purchase a new piano.

Our electronic musical instruments are in use and should not be disposed.

The Outreach Committee has informed our committee that they would like to have an outreach event/concert inviting our musicians and other churches to participate. Our musical leaders have been informed and the Outreach Committee will be letting us know about further information. They would like this to happen on the evening of Reformation Sunday October 25.

Worship Hymn Planning for 8:00 am services: Sept and Oct was completed.

We closed our meeting with The Lord’s Prayer

Respectfully submitted,

Deb Welander and Nancy Haese, co-chairs
