Minutes for BC Meeting 3/23/16

1. Pride Alliance

  • 14 hr flight, so would like to get hotel room
  • Week of 11th of apr
  • Talk will be on Monday of that week
  • 500 from honorarium
  • Couldn’t get flight from here, so will get flight from student activities instead so that we can fund honorarium instead
  • Daniel Arzola – artist of the art in the QRC
  • Silvia – could halve the pride alliance honorarium and see if they can get cosponsorship elsewhere
  • Getting funding from student affairs and student activities
  • Motion to fund hotels and halve honorarium – 8,0,0

2. Musical

  • Prices have changed – have a better sense of what their costs will be like
  • Motion to fund – 7,1,0 – 1 abstain

3. WAMH

  • Still need licensing fee
  • Motion to fund – 8,0,0

4. MESSA

  • Have cosponsorship from Asian civ dept, etc
  • For a cultural event that they’re holding apr 8th

5. Women’s Frisbee

  • Tournament in Saratoga (3 hrs drive away, games start at 9) on 2nd and 3rd of Apr for 16 people
  • Have tournament fees coming up for regionals and sectionals
  • Need hotels and tournaments fees
  • Motion to fund – 8,0,0

6. Men’s Frisbee

  • Tournament in Saratoga (3 hrs drive away, games start at 9) on 2nd and 3rd of Apr for 28 people
  • Also going to regionals and sectionals
  • Both A and B teams going
  • Motion to fund – 8,0,0

7. Friends of Book and Plow

  • Apr 30th for farm fest – 2to5pm
  • Also need sound and stage for the band and band honorariums
  • Paul – 3 bands?
  • Aditi – student bands?
  • Could also negotiate w bands on prices
  • Val is catering out of their own budget, student activities is covering tents, presidents office covering alcohol
  • Need to start arranging sound w art steele
  • Motion to table – 8,0,0

8. ACSU

  • Need food for wave your flag carnival on Saturday
  • Already have food for the dinner on Friday
  • Will have a band on the quad w snacks
  • Also have crafts funded by CAB
  • BC – can only allocate 200 if food is integral
  • Have already allocated cultural food for the club
  • Finger foods from restaurants
  • Motion to zero – 8,0,0
  • Manny – could reach out to presidents office or academic depts

9. BSU

  • Want to have an event in may – may 3rd senior dinner
  • Paul – don’t fund senior dinner
  • Not only for seniors
  • Also want to have an event on the 31st – Dean Moss’s play
  • A solo talk about her life, etc
  • Already have honorarium and need food
  • Have already given food money for this sem
  • Supplies is for the lock in
  • End of sem – time of relaxation, etc in the Octagon
  • Motion to table supplies and publicity for lock in and zero the rest – 8,0,0
  • Can come back later for decorations, supplies, etc

10. Amherst Soul

  • Workshop for students trying to create publications with the writing center
  • Writing center will help Amherst soul writers be sources of help for other students
  • Want this to be a student initiative so writing center doesn’t want to give funding
  • Motion to fund – 8,0,0

11. Peer Advocates

  • Not a hallmark event, so not funding food
  • Have not met about whether they can get tablecloths and whiteboards from another source

12. Harvard Latin America Conference

  • Need an additional 2 tickets
