Minutes: Executive and Committee Meeting 2016

Agenda Items

  1. Festival of Teaching–Update
  • Leonard is on the FoT Steering Committee and reported that the FoT Workshop abstract book is well under way and will be available soon; just typos to be fixed
  • The FoT program is now on line and registrations are open Registrations after the date 19th August incur a cost, so register before then!
  • volunteer for the day so far : Member Margaret Syme to help ATESOL NT
  • We need to have a person introducing the four workshops, reading out the bios and then closing session with thanks a small gift.

ACTION: Gayle to send out an email to members with a WORD table to fill in asking for names of timekeepers and introducers volunteers at the FoT.

ACTION: Leonard to send the FoT program large poster size to Linda in Alice for advertising there.

ACTION: Gayle to put the link to FoT on our website

  1. Secretary report: GR presented that the ATESOL NT post office has been reopened, we have the same number. Disaster avoided!!

ACTION – GR to be reimbursed for PO fees.

  1. Treasurer report: SD reported through Gayle that Commbiz account still having teething problems from transferring from Treasurer Lucy to Sam. Still working on this.
  1. ACTA Report – Fran is an apology this meeting.
  1. Round two of PTANT grant application – meeting confirmed agreement to apply for the second round of PTANT PL grants. See attached for our grant application.
  1. Put it in Writing – Sat 24 September

Yoshi has secured the room at CDU for this event, thanks Yoshi.

  1. ACTA Symposium Adelaide 2018:

Motion put to not offer ATESOL NT input to the ACTA Symposium 2018 – GR spoke to this confirming that the calendar indicated the day prior to the Conference is a public holiday in South Australia.

Discussion happened around whether to go for it, and put up some suggestions through Fran to ACTA, or not?

Voting passed the motion x 5 votes: Samantha (Gayle her proxy); Leonard, Linda, Yoshi, Gayle

Further discussion revealed that the EXEC feeling verybusy with FoT, the Urban Lyrebirds presentation and the Put it in Writing event.

  • Leonard shared about a combined partner grant. Hold this over to next meeting
  • what costs are we wanting to charge people for the Put it in Writing? – hold over to next meeting
