The Board of Education of School District #10 held its regular meeting on Monday, August 14, 2017. Board members present were: Erin Rathe, Brad Wilkins, Scott Erthum, Jim Arens, Dan Dailey, and Mark Johnson. Members absent: None. Also present were Principals Bill Lentz, Mike Wentz and Superintendent Darrell Peterson. There were a several guests in attendance. The meeting was called to order by Board President, Dan Dailey at 8:00 p.m.

Notice of the meeting was in the Ainsworth Star Journal and on radio station KBRB.

As noted during the meeting a current copy of the Open Meetings Act is posted on the south wall of the District Office meeting room.

Motion was made by Mark Johnson seconded by Brad Wilkins to approve the following consent agenda items: Minutes of the July meeting, claims in the amount of $154,047.31 from the General Fund and $3,567.41 from the Hot Lunch Fund. Schedule a special meeting for August 30, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. Set Public Hearings on the Proposed 2017-18 Budget of Expenditures and 2017-18 Tax Request on September 11, 2017 at 8:00 p.m. in the District Office followed by the regular September board meeting. The Cash Flow Report for the month of July was given. The Treasurer’s Report was given as follows: Cash Assets: July 31st: $3,105,586.93. Roll call vote: Unanimous. Motion carried.

Teammate Board members were present to inform the Board of their activities and the purpose of the group.

Elementary Principal Mike Wentz reported on the following: Enrollment Numbers, Kindergarten Orientation, Staff Development, Thanks to Custodial staff, Mrs. Carpenter attending Teacher Induction Program, Neiley Fernau accepted into the ASD Networks STEPS training.

Secondary Principal Bill Lentz reported on the following: Administrator Days, Danielson training, ESU new teacher workshop.

Activities Directors Jared Hansmeyer and Scott Steinhauser reported on the following: Fall Sports, NSAA bylaws, MS Fall Sports, ImPact Concussion Management System, Southwest Conference Fall Meeting, New Logo for ACS.

Superintendent Darrell Peterson reported on the following: Drug Forfeiture Money, MS field trip for the Solar Eclipse, Board Activities, Opening In-Service Days.

Motion was made by Scott Erthum and seconded by Jim Arens to approve the second reading of Policy 3305.2 Procurement Plan-School Food Authorities. Roll call vote: Unanimous. Motion carried.

Motion was made by Brad Wilkin’s and seconded by Erin Rathe to approve second reading of Policy 5416 School Wellness Policy. Roll call vote: Unanimous. Motion carried.

Motion was made by Mark Johnson and seconded by Jim Arens to approve the second reading of Policy 3571 Meal Charge Policy. Roll call vote: Unanimous. Motion carried.

Motion was made by Scott Erthum and seconded by Mark Johnson to approve the Option students as listed for the 2017-2018 school year. Roll call vote: Unanimous. Motion carried.

Motion was made by Jim Arens and seconded by Erin Rathe to approve the 2017-18 staffing and organization assignment as listed. Roll call vote: Unanimous. Motion carried.

Motion was made by Dan Dailey and seconded by Brad Wilkins to adjourn the meeting at 8:43 a.m. Roll call vote: Unanimous. Motion carried.

The Board will hold a special meeting to approve final expenditures for the 2016-17 school year on August 30, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. Set Public Hearings on the Proposed 2017-18 Budget of Expenditures and 2017-18 Tax Request on September 11, 2017 at 8:00 p.m. in the District Office followed by the regular September Board Meeting. Current agendas and/or discussion topics will be available for public inspection in the office of the superintendent.
