Minority Doctoral Fellowships Available at UL Lafayette

ThreeBOR/SREB minority doctoral fellowships(four years each)are available at UL Lafayette beginning Fall 2013. We will begin receiving applications on May 1, 2013 and continue to receive and review applications until the fellowships are filled. Eligible doctoral disciplines are Applied Language and Speech Sciences, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Environmental and Evolutionary Biology, Mathematics, and Systems Engineering. Applicants must have at least a bachelor’s degree with a minimum undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 or a 3.7 graduate grade point average. Our expectations are that successful applicants will have scores on the GRE General of approximately 600 quantitative and 500 verbal or scores from the GRE Revised General Test of 148 quantitative and 153 verbal, three strong letters of reference, strong writing samples and a proper goodness of fit with our programs of study and the research agendas of potential mentors. Applicants will also meet all other admission requirements of the Graduate School. Stipends will be $25,000 per academic year, with tuition and most fees covered by UL Lafayette. This fellowship also provides a $5,000 per year fundfor the fellow and his/her mentor to participate in the SREB Doctoral Scholars Program for three years plus $750 per year for travel to disciplinary conferences. A successful applicant will come from the Race/Ethnic categories of: (1) Black, Non-Hispanic, (2) Native American, or (3) Hispanic. We are reviewing applications and will continue our reviews until the fellowshipsare filled.
