Information Sheet

This document is intended to provide you (the patient) with all the information you need to know about Vision Online Services (VOS).

VOS is provided to you by our clinical system provider – INPS; this is a free service, funded by the NHS, to give patients online access to ordering repeat prescriptions and booking some appointments.

At this time VOS is only available to patients aged 16 and over.

Information Security: During registration you will be asked to set up your own password to access this service. It is your responsibility to keep your password safe and confidential.

The internet is not a secure place; however, our clinical system provider has taken steps to make sure your information is as secure as possible.

Visit to view the relevant privacy policy.

Registering to use VOS: If you are 16 and over, you may register to use VOS.

You can only register yourself and we may ask for proof of identity (passport, driver’s license, utility bill or other) before accepting your registration.

You must provide us with a valid email address and contact number in order to register for VOS, otherwise you cannot use this service.

Unfortunately you cannot register someone else to use VOS, as each person wishing to register to use VOS will need to show their own ID and supply their own email address & contact details.

Exceptions maybe given, at the GPs discretion, for patients who are housebound and therefore unable to visit the practice; also where parents wish to register children aged 15 and below. All applications of this nature must be made in writing to your GP and include the reasons why.

Where an exception is made, for children aged 15 or under, your access to the child’s VOS account will cease when they turn 16. At this time they will need to register for their own account to use VOS; providing the required proof of ID and valid email address & contact details.

Missing 4 or more appointments within a 12 month period: In line with the practice’s DNS policy - If you have missed 4 or more appointments, which were booked and but not cancelled, within a 12 month period, your VOS account will be automatically disabled and you will not be able to access it. You can request for it to be reinstated if you have not missed any subsequent appointments for 6 months from the date your account was disables.

If you continue to miss appointments, we may disable your VOS account indefinitely.

It is your responsibility to ensure that your VOS account is updated at all times; this includes, but is not limited to, cancelling booked appointments that you can no longer attend and ensuring that we have the correct contact details for you at all times.
