Minnesota Renaissance Festival Presents:

Mid-America Festivals, producers of the Minnesota Renaissance Festival and Trail of Terror, is interviewing candidates for the Grounds Manager for the 2014 Festival Season. The Grounds Manager is responsible for the maintenance and improvements to all Festival grounds. The Grounds Manager will ensure that The Festival grounds are kept in top condition for full and productive use.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES:

·  Personally participates in all grounds care activities.

·  Supervises and manages grounds crew workers and work lists.

·  Writes & follows detailed instructions for routine grounds keeping duties.

·  Participates & supervises the mowing and trimming of all lawn areas.

·  Participates & supervises the pulling of weeds by hand or uses a “Weed Wacker” as appropriate.

·  Participates & supervises the garden prep, planting, fertilizing, watering and other gardening jobs as needed.

·  Participates & supervises the building propping, sign installation and banner installation.

·  Participates & supervises the weekly wedding and special events setup.

·  Participates & supervises landscaping projects such as pond prep & maintenance.

·  Participates & supervises minor equipment maintenance & vehicle checks.

·  Responsible for cleaning and maintaining the Festival including grounds keeping and garbage maintenance.

·  Keeps all related equipment clean, maintained and stored properly.

·  Keeps equipment storage area neat, clean and organized.

·  Obtains cost estimates for supplies, parts and equipment repairs; orders supplies and maintains inventory.

·  Participates in meetings, timelines and communicates with co-workers and festival participants.

·  Assists in planning Trail of Terror (TOT) site layout and haunted attractions.

·  Participates in researching and obtaining cost estimates for props, supplies and animatronics for TOT.

·  Participates & supervises the planning, propping and painting of the TOT attractions.

SKILLS REQUIRED: Detail oriented, with considerable attention to detail, Work well in a team or alone, in all weather conditions; perform heavy physical labor on a daily basis; Able to operate maintenance and power equipment; self-motivated. Supervisory experience required.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCTATION: A minimum of 6 months of grounds keeping / gardening experience. References required.

LICENSES/ REGISTRATIONS: Minnesota Driver’s License; safe driving record; and proof of insurability

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work requires sufficient physical strength, agility, endurance, dexterity and hand-eye-foot coordination to perform all essential duties. Work requires sitting for long periods of time, standing and walking, and kneeling, crawling, bending, climbing stairs and ladders. Ability to lift 40 pounds repeatedly.

HOURS:

§  Full-time seasonal, May - November 2014

§  Monday – Saturday, May/ June/ July

§  6 days/week including weekends, August, September & October

PAY: Hourly, OT after 48 hours
