Ministerfor Environment Community and Local Government Launches Tipperary Enterprise Week – a week of business seminars, workshops, forums and events.

On Friday last, Minister for Environment Community and Local Government Alan Kelly TD launched Tipperary Enterprise Week, which will run from Monday, May 18 to Friday, May 22 next. An estimated 500 entrepreneurs are expected to attend 21 events across the County during the week.

Enterprise Week is an initiative of the Local Enterprise Office Tipperary, Tipperary County Council, in association with Enterprise Ireland, Teagasc, North Tipperary Leader Partnership, South Tipperary Development Company, Department of Social Protection, LIT and the Education and Training Board Tipperary.

For anyone thinking of starting or expanding a business or forthose who may have found themselves unemployed and are looking at self employment as an optionthe “Who to Talk To” events on Monday, May 18 in Clonmel and Thursday, May 21in Roscreaare a must. The eventsfeaturing funding workshops and information stands will provide attendees with the opportunity to meet with all of the agencies charged with supporting enterprise start up and development in the county.

Some of the highlights during the week will include a Retail Symposium in Nenagh which brings together leading retail experts to look at the challenges and opportunities facing the Retail Sector. A Tourism seminar in Cahir on Tuesday, May 19 focusing on the value of tourism to Tipperary is a not to be missed opportunity to hear from sectoral experts and to network with product providers. The week will conclude with an Economic Prospects Breakfast for owner / managers at which they can look beyond the horizon with Philip Boucher Hayes, Broadcaster and Journalist and John Finnof Treasury Solutions.

Clinics, will feature strongly throughout the week and include Agri Business with Teagasc, Energy Efficiency with Tipperary Energy Agency, Business Advice on Start up and Expansion with the Local Enterprise Office and Supports for the unemployed to move to self employment with the Department of Social Protection.

Social Mediamaster classes, Exporting workshops and seminars on Innovation, Procurement and Social Enterprise will take place at various locations across Tipperary. A community focused event with Connect Ireland is planned to highlight the potential of the initiative in terms of attracting foreign investment and resulting jobs for the County.

Networking will feature strongly during Enterprise Week with dedicated events taking place such as the Regional Women in Business event in Adare and a Green Business 2 Business event in Thurles.

Promotion of all events will be in conjunction with interest groups, Chambers, Business Associations and Municipal Districts.
