Role Purpose:

This fixed term, minimum 6-month,assignmenthas arisen in Knowledge Transfer Ireland (KTI), Research and Innovation Division to cover maternity leave. The successful candidate will lead the design, development and delivery of the national marketing and communications strategy for Knowledge Transfer Ireland (KTI). KTI, a flagship initiative, works with business, investors, third level institutions, State research organisations, research funders and government agencies to maximise State-funded technology, ideas and expertise getting into the hands of business to drive innovation. This position drives KTI’s engagement with these stakeholders nationally and internationally and raising the profile of knowledge transfer (KT) in Ireland. The person appointed to this role will play a vital part in achieving KTI’s national objective to facilitate the commercialisation of research and engagement between business and the public sector with Irish Research Performing Organisations (RPOs).

Key Deliverables

  • Deliver a cohesive KTI marketing, communications and PR strategy to deliver the broader vision and objectives for KTI.
  • Develop strong links and work closely with Enterprise Ireland’s Corporate Marketing and Communications Department to drive and deliver effective and coordinated corporate communications as they relate to Knowledge Transfer, aligned to EI’s corporate communications strategy.
  • Drive effective multi-channel national and international communications activities across KTI’s diverse stakeholder group.
  • Develop and manage the KTI digital presence including relevant functionality for website and ongoing review to keep it fresh and dynamic and delivering and implementing a credible and appropriate social media strategy.
  • Directly implement the KTI marketing strategy e.g. specific marketing campaigns and launches.
  • Deliver high-quality and effective marketing collateral and KTI publications including the KTI Annual Report, Annual KT Survey and ad hoc reports.
  • Oversee the delivery of the KTI events programme.
  • Manage all external services provision for marketing, communications and PR support to KTI as appropriate.
  • Develop good working relationships with relevant external corporate communications leads e.g. Government Departments and sister agencies such as DJEI, HEA, IUA, IDA Ireland and SFI.
  • Input into the development of new KTI products and services to support stakeholder needs.
  • Be a positive and dynamic member of the KTI team and provide support to Director as required.

Functional Competencies (Key Skills and Knowledge)

  • Significant post-qualification experience managing and leading the design and implementation of marketing, communications and PR projects and campaigns, coupled with recent and relevant experience working at account director (agency) and/or equivalent in-house level in the sector is essential.
  • Proven experience of designing and developing marketing, communications and PR strategies is essential.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing diverse marketing, communications and PR projects and campaigns directly for, or designed to reach, different relevant stakeholders (e.g. business, investors, third level institutions, State research organisations, research funders and government agencies) is essential.
  • A third level or relevant post-graduate qualification in Marketing/Communications/PR is essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to network, build relationships and engage with and influence stakeholders at all levels of seniority.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills.
  • Proven ability to deal with multiple demands and competing priorities to tight deadlines.
  • Experience in a communications agency is desirable.
  • Experience of science/technology marketing or the commercialisation of research is desirable.
  • Experience of managing a range of external services providers for marketing, communications and PR.

Salary Scale

Starting salary is €65,093 per annum contributory superannuation. This will be pro-rated in line with the duration of this fixed term contract.

Candidates should note that entry will be at the minimum of the relevant scale and the rate of remuneration may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government pay policy. Subject to satisfactory performance, increments may be payable in line with current Government Policy.
