IRONWORKERS TRAINING COURSE

Participants will receive 3 weeks of FREE hands on training AND the opportunity to meet with local signatory contractors. The training will focus on developing skills to enter into the Reinforcing Ironwork industry. Those who complete the 3 week course will have an excellent opportunity to begin a career as an Ironworker apprentice.Requirements for entry into the course are:

*Minimum 18 years of age*High School diploma or GED

*Reliable transportation*Lifting and carrying a minimum of 70 lbs

*Must pass drug screen

Acceptance into the course will be based on meeting the above listed criteria,a resume and the results of a math test.

IRONWORKERS REINFORCING GLADIATOR COURSE

MANDATORY ORIENTATION ONSEPTEMBER 18TH, 2017 AT 4 P.M. COURSE DATES, 10/09-10/27, 2017. ALL EVENTS WILL BE HELD AT THE IRONWORKERS TRAINING FACILITY LOCATED AT SAN JOSE CITY COLLEGE VOCATIONAL EDUCATION CLASSROOMS, 2100 MOORPARK AVE. SAN JOSE, CA.

TRANSPORTATION- Jobs will be in the greater Bay Area. Reliable transportation is a must.

DRUG TEST- An initial 12 panel drug and alcohol test will be required prior to the class, and all will be subject to random, annual, post-accident, etc. The Ironworkers promote a drug free work environment.

ATTENDANCE- 100% attendance IS REQUIRED.

Required Personal Protective Equipment for this course: High top leather work boots (steel toe is optional), long sleeve cotton work shirt and work pants.

CLASS CREDIT- All who successfully complete the three week course will be given credit for the Orientation and Reinforcing Iclasses. This is equivalent to one full semester of courses.

UNION DUES & FEES- A one-time initiation fee of $100.00 and one month’s Union dues must be paid prior to going to work as an Apprentice. New Apprentice pay rate is $18.00 per hour, and $4.00 per hour vacation.

Apprentices must maintain Union membership in good standing throughout the 4 year Apprenticeship Program.

No fees or dues are required during the course.

All Tools, PPE and curriculum issued will remain the property of the Apprenticeship Program and will be returned to the instructor as requested. Those who successfully complete the course will be allowed to keep the PPE and course curriculum. Participants may purchase the tools used during class from the apprenticeship. Cost of tools: APPROXIMATELY $180.00.

CODE OF CONDUCT- The Ironworkers 'Standards of Excellence' will be the template for our code of conduct during the course and will remain in effect throughout your Apprenticeship.
