Minerva Valuation Advisors Is a Boutique Business Valuation / Advisory Firm Based Out

Minerva Valuation Advisors is a boutique business valuation / advisory firm based out of the GTA. We have connections to numerous industries in Canada, including the technology and financial sectors, among others. Our clients include business owners, accountants, lawyers, asset managers and investors in a wide range of industries.
Our sister company, Minerva Technology ("MT"), formerly Edu Finance Media, is primarily involved in developing small products for investors, both in Canada and in U.S.A. MT currently owns and operates two financial portals (Exchange Traded Fund portal and Preferred Share portal) and has three other financial portals in the beta stage. The right individual(s) will have the opportunity to receive equity and full-time employment.
The role is a dual role, which requires primarily an expertise in coding while also having a basic understanding of the finance field. We are looking to fill the role immediately. The ideal candidate is a full stack developer (front and back end), with domain expertise in the following languages/software(s):
- PHP;
- Python (ideally Python with some experience with Numpy, Matplotlib, Scipy, Scikit-learn);
- MySQL / PostgreSQL;
- Java;
- JavaScript; and
- Excel.
Responsibilities include:
- software development (upgrades and optimizations),
- software and database maintenance (general & best practices),
- customary software upgrades (ad hoc),
- working and communicating with senior and junior offshore coders, including board advisors, and
- recommending updates, as applicable.
Additional Skills/Knowledge:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, while possessing the ability to liason with manager(s) and other coders;
- Teamwork skills and strong work ethics are essential;
- Working knowledge of API's; and
- Some financial knowledge is valuable.
Education/Fit:
- Bachelors in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Math, Statistics, Accounting & Financial Management and/or Economics, preferable;
- Top tier grades are not necessary, as we value integrity, intellectual curiosity, creativity and honesty higher than grades;
- The ideal candidate will have shown a history to be a well-rounded individual, either through extra-curricular activities, sports, or volunteering experiences;
- We are a flexible firm, which has flexible office hours and dress codes; and
- Compensation will be based on experience.
