Dwight loves to play basketball and gains a lot of strength in the gym to become a starter on the varsity team. Everyday, he used to eat mostly meats like steak, ham, turkey, chicken, and a lot of other foods high in protein. One day at the gym he was bench pressing and he felt very tired and his muscles felt like it was losing its strength. When he got home that night his parents said he was very lethargic, he did not want to do anything, and he did not even want to eat his dinner. As the days gone by, he hasn’t drank any water because he didn't feel like he needed it before he works out. After his workout he almost fell down on the floor due to not drinking his water and almost unconscious. Dwight is now starting to wonder if he’ll ever start on the basketball team now since he's hasn't been very healthy lately. He goes to his doctor a few days later and the doctor says he has to go on a diet to get better. The doctor recommend for Dwight to eat broccoli, brussel sprouts, potatoes, tomatoes, and of course drink water each and everyday. Dwight agreed that he’ll go on this diet and do his very best to get a starting position on the team. As the months go by, he got his varsity letter and the coaches named him one of the starting five on the team. The Rockstar

There was a guy named Marty growing up his one dream was to be a rock star, and one day his girlfriend Jennifer suggested that they try this new diet she found online. “It’s made for rock stars!” she tells him. This diet consisted of not eating, and cutting back on goat cheese, avocados, walnuts, and cashews. Jennifer also convinced him that removing certain green leaved vegetables was essential in sticking to the diet. Since they started on the diet Jennifer was doing good but Marty was falling apart. He would often tell his band that he was too tired to practice a song. At home, he often complained about freezing to death when the heat was up. Eventually, Jennifer started noticing changes in her body as well. She was too tired to film Marty’s shows and the noise level made her head pound. Friends asked her if she did anything different with her makeup because her skin complexion has become more sickly. Simple tasks like bending became difficult and she even noticed more hair in her hair brush each morning, than usual. It’s just rock star life, she thought. Cancelling a few shows to catch up on sleep, will get us right back on track, she assured Marty.

When she arrived she got her gear on and made her way to the ski lift. When she was on the lift she noticed that her heart was beating faster than usual and her breathing was heavier than usual. She didn’t think much of it and was ready to shred down the mountain. After a couple of runs the sun went down and night time skiing began. When she went down the hill she started to complain she couldn't see certain things. Her vision started to fog out in spurts and she ended up skiing into her friends and even a tree. She decided to sit down the rest of the night in the lodge and drink hot coco. On the bus ride home she started to shake and lost some control of her body. When she got back home she told her mother what was happening and told her she needs to go to the doctor. What do you think is going on with Addy? What vitiam could she be lacking?

Lisa is a healthy adult who enjoys getting together with her neighborhood girlfriends every weekend. Lisa is always on the move, she loves going to the movies with her friends, walking her dog and almost anything that will keep her busy. She is somewhat overweight and wants to lose around 30 pounds. Lisa has trouble losing weight and decided to start taking diuretics. Lisa planned to use these diuretic drugs for a temporary use only, but as time went on she started to rethink her plan. After hearing how many people use this trick to lose weight and how popular diuretics became with the younger generation and the female celebrities, Lisa started to continue this cleanse for a longer period of time. Lisa did not research anything about using diuretics nor did she discuss her plan with her doctor. Lisa only knew that diuretics can help lose weight, thinking she didn’t need to know much more. Diuretics are drugs that increase the flow of urine and causes loss of minerals/ electrolytes in the blood. Lisa was uninformed about this, and as weeks kept passing by she started feeling different. Even though Lisa continued her regular diet, she was still consuming diuretics and started to experience what she thought was simple “side effects” that will pass on. Lisa began peeing more often, losing a lot of body fluid. Lisa became very dehydrated, exhausted and was facing terrible headaches. Lisa’s head pain was so intense that she cancelled plans with her friends to see a new movie! Knowing lisa and her love for movies, that scared her friends. Lisa, once again, did not think much of it. As this cycle continued, the diuretics kept forcing lisa to pee several times a day, at this point her body was losing more water than usual. Lisa started to feel internal pain around her stomach such as cramps. Far in the process, lisa was questioning herself because she was now feeling more cramps in her muscles, dizzy, fatigue, weak and nauseous which led to vomiting. Lisa told her friends how sick she feels lately and that she has been forgetting a lot, misplacing things and just confused in general. She complained to her friends, “I can’t even walk my dog without feeling like I’m going to faint!”. Lisa had enough of this, she’s clueless and wants to know what is going on. Can you help her?

Everyday after school Daniella goes to crunch to improve the defined abs that she has. Before she does her workout routine, she drinks half a bottle of a blue gatorade in order to boost the number of electrolytes in her system. Nonetheless, since she has been training more than ever, she has not been eating her daily favorite: Greek Yogurt. She proceeded to go on the treadmill for a light mile run. After about 5 minutes she was feeling very crampy and didn't think she could continue. Her calves felt heavy and almost numb. Sometimes when she is s out of shape her legs get numb while running, however, lately she had been working out a lot and the numbness is reoccuring, which is unusual. Not to mention, on her way home from the gym, she forgot how to get home and had to use her GPS. Furthermore, after her shower, she usually starts her homework and has a light snack. But today after her gym session today she felt very uneasy and had little to no appetite. Again, this is unusual considering Daniella comes from a very Italian family who eats very big dinners. Since she skipped her snack, she assumed she would be ready to eat for dinner. But, when dinner came around, she could barely even get a piece of bread down!
