The following chart details the information and responsibilities for each of the participants in the Region VII Regional Collaborative grant program.
2005-2006
Region VII / Teacher / Administratorþ Provide teachers TAKS analysis for their school
þ Provide quality teacher training designed to meet the needs of the school district
þ Provide teachers classrooms materials needed to implement training (approximate $2000 per teacher)
þ Provide state and nation documents to support implementation of training (approximately $100 per teacher)
þ Provide teacher monetary support to attend CAST, the state science conference ($400 per teacher)
þ Provide teacher monetary support to attend one informal science training at NASA (approximately $200 per teacher)
þ Provide teacher monetary support to mentor/ assist other teachers within their district (approximately $100 per mentored teacher)
þ Provide teacher monetary support ($300 per teacher) to attend a graduate course at SFASU (Teaching Environmental Science)
þ Provide $200 stipend per teacher upon completion of ALL grant requirements
þ Provide $100 per teacher to present at the regional science conference
þ Provide access to Region VII Science materials ‘check out program’
þ Provide districts $240 ($40/day) toward substitutes
þ Email teachers and administrators summaries of sessions and expectations for classroom changes
þ Evaluate success of program measured by student success and teacher’s pre and post evaluations. / þ Actively participate in all sessions
þ Implement changes in instruction based upon training
þ Utilize provided materials in classrooms
þ Bring samples of student work to each session
þ Keep a journal tracking instructional changes
þ Share new ideas and instructional ideas (mentor) with 3-5 teachers within district
þ Keep journal on mentoring hours, attendance, and observations
þ Complete pre and post classroom survey of students
þ Present at ONE local, regional, or state conference /meeting / þ Support teachers participating in grant training
þ Attend What Every Principal should know about a TEKS based SCIENCE classroom training
þ Provide grant leaders information on classroom implementation of materials (observations, conversations, etc.) This will be done through emails
þ Provide monetary support upon completion of ALL grant requirements ($200/teacher)
þ Attend July follow-up/ evaluation meeting ( on site OR through distance learning)
Space is very limited in this program and is open to members of the Math/Science Cooperative only. Applications are due by August 31, 2005.
