RVSL June 6, 2013 Board Meeting

Referee Report –Rich was present and said he updated the points system based on corrections from Vince and Joe regarding wrong points for Red cards (depends on the foul). He raised a concern that clubs were incorrectly starting to contact League assigned Referees directly. This is contrary to acceptable practice and must be discontinued. Only Rich should be contacting Referees. They are not to be dealt with by Town Reps, Coaches, or any other parties. It was noted that slide tackles and trash talking is still present in some games. Town Reps should talk to Coaches to get this reduced.
The Sit Down/Cool Down after a yellow card for a player worked well during its introduction. The player must wait until the next available substitution to return to the field. This was originally proposed strictly for AA Division, but was used by Coaches in some other Upper Division games with success as well. Starting in the Fall, this will be fully implemented in both A and B Division. A motion was given by Mt Arlington and seconded by Rockaway Borough. All Clubs present voted Yes. There were a few score runups.
Old Business – By Laws Changes were brought up since the last update was Spring 2011. There was a formal request by the Jersey Athletic Sports Group (JASG) to be removed from the By Laws. Several changes were discussed at the meeting which will be presented in a separate attachment. Another club being removed was Hopatcong. Mine Hill was being taken out of the By Laws and meeting locations were to be posted as TBD. A point was brought up to consider moving the cutoff date for eligibility from October 1st to August to match Travel Soccer. This was not seconded.
New Business – Dover has two players with August/September birthdays on a B Division team and the Committee decided to allow them to stay. John Colgan, Joe Gajda, and Rich Herbison proposed a Fall RVSL Tournament in honor of Mark Jaeger. Full Sided games would be held on Saturday and Small Sided games on Sunday.
A Motion to adjourn was made by Rockaway Township, and seconded by Rockaway Borough.
The Next Meeting will be 6/25/13 8pm at a site TBD.
