Dear Tilly,
Here is the first 50 as promised. I will get you the rest of the money soon. Just keep up your end of the bargain. Don’t tell anyone what you know. Remember, you were with me on 2nd June, and we never left my caravan.
Love

Tilly,
I saw you with him last night. Do you think you are fooling me? You and that freak, laughing at me behind my back. We are over.

BRILLIANT FREAK SHOW PERFORMANCE
3rd June 1935
Crowds were amazed yesterday at the Milsted Circus by the amazing show put on by the freaks. The Wolf Baby was absolutely frightful, causing many women in the audience to scream with fright. Unfortunaltely, Fred the Five Handed Freak never turned up.
The Wolf Baby terrifying crowds at 8.30pm yesterday.
Fight between two freaks
29th may 1935
Two of Milsted Circus’ favourite freaks were again caught fighting today. The problem it seems, is that Fred the Five Handed Freak is proving to be a bigger
attraction than The Wolf Baby, and The Wolf Baby can’t stand this. “I’m half
wolf, half baby” she was heard saying, whilst showing her enormous teeth. “That’s far more impressive than having five hands.”
TILLy gets by with a little help from a friend
29th May 1935
The best trapeze artist that perhaps there ever was got even better yesterday. Fred the Five Handed Freak has been giving her a hand (or five) during her performances. “He’s amazing” said Tilly. “Absolutely wonderful. With him around I will make even more money, and become even more famous, which of course is all I have ever wanted.”
2nd June 1935
Dear Tilly,
I love you so much. You are the only one who appreciates my uniqueness. We could run away together, you and I. Please say you love me too. If you don’t, it would break my heart, and I wouldn’t be able to help you anymore. If you know what is good for you, you will come to the cinema with me tonight.
Fred stinky. I baby. Better. Hate Fred. Silly man. Grrrrr.
Animal Welfare Report Date: 28th May 1935
These animals are extremely badly cared for, especially the lions. They are so poorly fed that I am quite amazed no one has been eaten yet, or at least killed, as the lions are, not surprisingly, extremely badly tempered.
My advice would be to take the animals away from Milsted Circus.
