APRIL 2010

NUMBER 180

CITY COUNCIL CORNER

Each month we will keep you informed of the City Council decisions from the previous month. In March:

· Reviewed a proposal for the expenditure of the unused bond funds from the Division of Drinking Water. This proposal was to complete analysis of several different culinary water sources. The Council will proceed with having several sources reviewed to determine what would better enhance our water system for the future.

· Discussed the Rocky Mountain Power project to build a new substation south of the existing Nibley Substation. As the excavating of the project unfolds, excess material will be removed. The Council authorized having this fill put in the city owned ‘gravel pit’.

· The Crack Seal and Type II Slurry Seal projects were awarded to M & M Asphalt to be completed.

· Heard a report from the Millville-Nibley First Responders. They are still in need of anyone interested in volunteering for this position. There is a 4-year commitment required to serve with this squad. For additional information, please contact Councilmember Sheryl Hair.

· Adopted a proclamation declaring April 2010 as Child Abuse Prevention Month. This proclamation supports child abuse prevention efforts and education, and encourages all citizens to actively help protect our children and work to create strong families within our community.

· Canceled the City Council Meeting that was to be held on April 8 as the Council attended training.

· Determined a scope of services for care of the North Park grounds which was placed out for bid.

· Adopted Resolution 2010-1 Water Service Guidelines which outlined the use of water supplied by the City and its water department to residents and non-residents.

· Discussed budget proposals for the 2011 fiscal year.

· Reviewed the 2009 Water Audit Report as presented by Superintendent Gary Larsen.
