SUMMARY
The Class B Truck Driver loads shipments of parts onto commercial trucks and delivers them to local customers. The Class B Truck Driver also assists the warehouse operating function by obtaining parts from stock and fulfilling orders when necessary.CLASS B (minimum age 18): A Class B license is issued to those persons 18 years of age or older who have demonstrated their qualifications to operate any single vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating of 26,001 pounds or more or any such vehicle towing a vehicle having a gross vehicle weight rating of not more than 10,000 pounds. The holder of a Class B license is qualified to operate vehicles for which a Class C license is issued. Where required, appropriate endorsements must be obtained.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following:
- Maintains personal hygiene and a professional image and represents MCF on and off-site with a pleasant, service oriented attitude
- Performs routine maintenance on trucks and equipment and determines when and what kind of maintenance is needed
- Drives truck to weigh station before and after loading, and along route to document weight and conform to state regulations as required
- Loads shipments onto trucks using equipment or by hand
- Uses pads, packing paper, and containers before deliveries to protect shipments from damage while in transit
- Secures truck loads to trailer wall or flat bed using straps and/or other securing equipment
- Obtains receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required.
- Checks all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.
- Maneuvers trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and ensuring that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
- Delivers shipments to customers on schedule
- Offload and stage all products in proper location according to internal and external customer requirements and special requests
- Conveys paperwork to internal and external customers
- Fills out his or her Driver’s Daily Log” according to I.C.C. regulations
- Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles to Warehouse Manager or Assistant Warehouse Manager
- Uses Profit 21 to inquire, commit, and locate inventory for fulfilling picking and packing of orders as necessary
- Maintains the warehouse and work areas in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations
- Performs other duties as assigned

- Proficiency in an enterprise system
- Comprehension of principles and methods of transportation, including the relative costs and benefits

- Customer Service oriented
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school degree or equivalent
- Comprehensive knowledge and record of compliance with regulatory rules, codes, laws, procedures, and standards relevant to Commercial Transportation
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Forklift certification
- Class B commercial driver’s license

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Drivers for MCF will be provided with box trucks, flat beds, and/or tractor trailers. Drivers on long trips may face boredom, loneliness, and fatigue. Also, vibration, noise, poor weather conditions, and the need to stay sharp and alert in heavy traffic can cause physical and mental stress for the driver. During visits to areas of operations an employee may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
The distribution center is not a temperature controlled facility and the noise level in the work environment is moderate. MCF trucks are equipped with temperature control devices.
