Duties/responsibilities:

Typing, filing, word processing, data entry, typesetting, coding, posting, bookkeeping

Researching, teaching, editing, writing, proofreading

Scheduling, coordinating, organizing, updating

Preparing packets, mailings, or equipment

Responding to inquiries - phone, mail, reception, tours, counter work

Stocking, receiving, shelving, transporting, delivering, gardening, grounds keeping

Special skills needed:

Knowledge of computer programs (specify program)

10-key calculation by touch

Typing or word processing (specify WPM required)

Photography or audio/video recording

Knowledge of grammar/punctuation (specify language)

Job Description & other Desirable Qualities:

Graduate Assistant Position

Editorial Assistant- Journal of Ocean and Coastal Economics

The Editorial Assistant assists the Managing Editor of the Journal to prepare papers for publication. Duties include:

• Reviews papers submitted by authors for style, format, grammar and consistency with the editorial standards of the Journal.

• Verifies that references match between the body of the paper and the listing of references.

• Assures consistency of formatting for tables and graphs

• Applies style formats in Microsoft Word and Excel

The Editorial Assistant must have native proficiency in English, demonstrated understanding of grammar and spelling and experience with Microsoft Word or similar word processing programs.

Applicants should provide a letter of application highlighting qualifications as defined above, a current resume, and one paper that they have authored which demonstrates writing skills.

The position is 10-20 hours a week at $15 an hour and includes work during Institute vacation periods.

Institute workstudy or federal workstudy allowed.
