Students represent #’s by using exponents.

2.2 Powers of Ten and Scientific Notation: pg. 66, #’s 3-39 multiples of 3, 55, 56

Students will represent large #’s in scientific notation

Students will learn/review terminology scientific notation and standard form

2.3 Order of Operations: pg. 72, #’s 1-18 all, 19-31 odd, 34, 38

Students will use order of operations to simplify a numerical expression ( PEMDAS )

Quiz 2.1-2.3 (you may review with the Midchapter quiz found on page 74)

2.4 Prime Factorization: pg. 80, #’s 3-39 multiples of 3, 47-53 odds, 64-69 all

Students will practice breaking down numbers into prime factors

2.5 Greatest Common Factor and 2.6 Least Common Multiple: pg 84, #’s 3-33 multiples of 3, and pg. 88, #’s 3-36 multiples of 3

Students will break down #’s to prime factors and find what is being asked J

Quiz 2.4-2.6 (you may review by using the Midchapter quiz found on page 90)

Test Chapter 2 Part 1 sections 2.4-2.6 (you can use pg. 125, #’s 1-24 for review)

Students will combine like terms to simplify algebraic expressions

Students will discuss the words terms, like terms and coefficients

Quiz 2.7-2.9 (you can use pg. 124 to help you study along with hw’s leading up to these sections)

2.10 Equations and Their Solutions: pg. 106, #’s 7-26 all, #’s 33-36 all

Students will determine if values are solutions to equations

2.11 Solving Equations by Adding or Subtracting: pg. 112, #’s 8-29 all

Students will talk about inverse operations, isolating variables and the addition and subtraction properties of equality

2.12 Solving Equations by Multiplying or Dividing: pg. 116, #’s 8-30 all

Students will talk about inverse operations, isolating variables and the Multiplication and division properties of equality
