District One

Middle School Honors Band

November 9th, 2015

Congratulations!

By receiving a First Division rating on your solo performance at the MSBOA District One Middle School Solo & Ensemble Festival you are eligible to perform in our Middle School Honors Band! Honors Band Day is December 8th and will be held at Shelby High School auditorium. This will be an all day event, culminating in an evening concert in the high school auditorium. If school is cancelled because of a snowstorm, the event will be rescheduled.

Due to the importance of this event, we expect that all students applying for the Honors Band will check their calendars and know they are available. If your band director enrolls you in the band, the music will be assigned and a chair placement will be reserved, and we will expect you to be rehearsed and prepared for the day. Your director will let you know your chair placement as well secure your music for you.

Students were chosen based upon the following criteria:

·  All students receiving a division one rating on their solo are eligible.

·  Students from each school will be in ‘rank order’ by the band director.

·  A balanced and appropriate sized band

There is a nominal $15.00 fee for participation in this year’s honors band. If you make the commitment to attend, please bring fee to band director. A light breakfast, lunch and dinner on Honors Band Day will be provided. If you have a special diet, please bring the appropriate food.

• Breakfast: Light breakfast items

• Lunch: Hot lunch through the Shelby Public Schools Food Service

• Dinner: TBA

Students will need to bring their own home uniform or black concert-wear and appropriate shoes for the evening concert. All daytime rehearsals will be casual dress. In addition, students will need to bring a pencil, their instrument and their music. If you or your parents have specific questions, please contact your band director or please feel to e-mail us at .
