Attractions

The MTC is conveniently located 15 minutes west of Boston. The area offers a wide variety of dining choices, shopping, tourist attractions and evening entertainment options.

Meeting Rooms

The MTC has many rooms to suit many different purposes. Several have A/V equipment that can be used to access the solutions you are building in your lab. Please see the reception desk to reserve the space appropriate for your needs.

Tips to Help Maximize Lab Results

  • Make sure you’ve spoken with a Microsoft lead architect prior to coming to the MTC. A short phone conversation will make sure that everyone has the same information, is up to speed, and is focused on similar goals.
  • Plan to work full 8-hour days, with the exception of your abbreviated final day. Although you have lab access 24 hours a day, all work and no time for recuperation can diminish your mental capacity. Architects at the MTC are available to you 8 hours a day. Office hours are from 8:30 A.M. to 5:30 P.M.
  • Write the engagement documents while they are still fresh in your mind. To allow you time to do so, your engagement schedule is set up so that your last day is a half-day.
  • Keep us informed as you go. If you have reason to believe that your goals will not be met, or if you experience something that is not consistent with your expectations, let your MTC lead architect know immediately. We can adapt, adjust, and bring in other resources—but not after you’ve gone back home.
  • Have the development resources you’ll need on-site or available. If you have existing code, it is likely that questions will come up about the architecture or implementation. Have the people who will be responsible for the development of the proof or architecture at the MTC. They will be the ones who will benefit most from the knowledge transfer.
  • Let us know before your visit if you have any special hardware or networking requests. Analog lines are available, but VPN access must be configured for each customer. Please let us know in advance if you need VPN access.
Assuring Your Security

Nothing is more important than safeguarding the confidentiality of your data, secure information access, and your physical security. Maintaining an environment that cannot be compromised requires awareness and cooperation between our organizations. The MTC has done everything in our power to create and provide a protected environment. We also ask that, while you are working at the MTC, you follow our security procedures and guidelines (see the Guidelines document, enclosed). If you have any questions regarding these security guidelines, please speak to an MTC representative.

Three Keys to Confidentiality and Protection

You will be given three keys to keep for the duration of your stay:

  • A cardkey that provides access to the building.
  • A cardkey that gives you access—7 A.M. to 7 P.M., seven days a week—to Microsoft’s first floor.
  • A room key to your private suite. Your team will be the only people to have this key, and you can lock the environment at any time.

We are looking forward to hosting you at the Microsoft Technology Center—Boston. If there is anything we can do to make your experience with us more enjoyable or productive, please do not hesitate to ask.
