Countdown to the fascinating world of model engineering - FASZINATION MODELLBAU from 30 October to 1 November 2015 on Lake Constance!

Vibrations are all around in preparation for the top model engineering festival of the year: among the exhibitors with their new products and hands-on activities, among clubs with their spectacular models and presentation layouts, and particularly among the wide-spread and active modelling community, especially in social media. Every year it is just like Christmas, when anticipation is the greatest pleasure! The last nuts and bolts are tightened, motors tweaked, layouts designed, trial runs held and last minute plans are made.

Of course the FASZINATION MODELLBAU organizers have again invited outstanding model engineers to the show who will captivate the international audience from Friday 30 October to Sunday 1 November 2015.

Here is the latest news on FASZINATION MODELLBAU 2015:

Micro-what? Micropulling! A genuine freak show.

Premiere! For the first time at FASZINATION MODELLBAU the giants among the miniatures compete in a battle of strength. Micropulling is the model version of tractor pulling, the modeller's power pull. And it is terrific fun to watch. The vehicles might be 10 times smaller but the vamped up engines are equally spectacular.

Just as in the full-scale contests, the aim is to pull a brake van as far as possible along a dirt track. In micropulling the brake van weighs up to 25 kg and the track is normally 12.5 metres long and 2 metres wide. These sturdy dwarfs are equipped with genuine combustion engines. Look forward to loads of fun at the micropulling event in Hall A6!

Jubilee for BDEF! 15 years of Junior College Europe.

Now Junior College itself is a teenager! For 15 years the congenial umbrella association of railway friends and model railway clubs has been inspiring young people to take up railway modelling in its project Junior College Europe. With great success! Now the international College team wish to say their thanks and are holding their annual festivity at Europe's most popular model fair. On October 30 they will be reflecting on years gone by and looking into the future with their slogan 'No youngsters - no future'. Join the dialogue with the makers of Junior College Europe, who are always on the lookout for new ideas and suggestions in the world of railway modelling.

Evergreen. Autograph session with Hagen von Ortloff.

It feels just like the Beatles evergreen "All you need is love" when the inventor and maker of the popular TV series "Eisenbahn-Romantik" returns to the model engineering show. Relaxed, responsive and authentic - just like on television - he enlivens the autograph session with his first-hand railway stories, chats with the audience and signs his photographs. And railway modellers of all ages love him for it. On Friday and Saturday he will be at the stand of publisher VGBahn (Hall A3, Stand 3118) at 2:15 pm to meet his fans. Save the date!

Show of strength! Model masterpieces.

Power machines are work machines. And since their invention they have made massive changes to our lives. They introduce new capabilities, increased mobility and they influence the quality of life. At FASZINATION MODELLBAU the steam model club Dampffreunde Friedrichshafen will present milestones in the evolution of power machines. The journey through time starts in 1788 with the first functioning piston steam engine built by James Watt. With the first motor car engine by Carl Benz the club will be showing one of the most significant and impressive stages from their own region Baden-Württemberg. The journey reaches its peak in the depiction of a modern high-performance engine. The Dampffreunde Friedrichshafen look forward to welcoming visitors large and small at Stand 2106 in Hall A2.

R2-D2. Droids invade the show.

He himself is an experienced mechanic and solution finder. With great courage he saved his master and friends from many dangers. The beloved droid R2-D2 is the highlight for all Star Wars fans at the 14th FASZINATION MODELLBAU! Spectators at the fair can experience at close quarters how the Automech can be individually constructed out of various materials - by members of the legendary R2-Builders Club.

For the first time the droid builders are participating at the show and will be glad to answer questions on making your own model. Special topics will include 3D printing and moulding parts. Practical examples will show how objects can be distressed to appear old, and how the lighting in an R2-D2 works.

On every day of the fair the droids are available to pose on selfies in front of an amazing backdrop. Hands-on functional modelling!

Watertight high flying. With the Splash Drone.

The aim is already to revolutionize the only just established world of drones and multicopters - nothing more and nothing less. And it should succeed with the world's first watertight quadcopter to go into serial production: the Splash Drone.

The copter is easily capable of carrying a GoPro camera including dive case, ready to capture those special moments - without the danger of water damage or loss. Great for water-skiers and surfers who have always wanted to share the experience of riding the waves with other water-sportsmen!

The integrated 7" live image monitor on the transmitter is also suitable for FPV flying. With the "Return home" function the quadcopter will automatically return to its take-off position. The "Follow me" function lets the copter follow the pilot independently. In addition to the special functions, all important telemetry data such as the battery capacity or the distance to the starting point are shown on the transmitter. The Splash Drone can be controlled by tablet or Smartphone via an app. The Auto version also offers the possibility of waypoint flights.

Apropos flight and more.

As every year FASZINATION MODELLBAU hosts the unique air show "Stars of the Year" on the grounds of the adjacent airport, and the Indoor Flight Show in the light-flooded West entrance foyer. Impressive model ships sail on the 400 sq.m. water pool in Hall A5. In Hall A2 and A3 visitors can admire and be amazed by the lovingly detailed model railway layouts. Let's go!
