To: All Law Enforcement Agencies

Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) DataMaster breath test instruments automatically adjust for daylight savings time on the first Sunday in April. Due to the adjustment in the daylight savings time implementation date that occurred in 2007, a manual correction to the instrument’s clock must be performed as follows by a breath test operator to ensure the accurate time is recorded on evidence tickets.

**NOTE** The procedure is only required on the old BAC DataMaster instrument. The new DataMaster Transportable (DMT) breath test instrument does not require the manual correction to the clock.

·  March 8, 2015, 2:00 a.m. – time forward one hour

·  April 5, 2015, 2:01 a.m. – time back one hour

Instructions for making time changes to the DataMaster can be found in Chapter 9 of the “Michigan Breath Test Operator” training manual that each operator received when attending the initial training. Please post these time change requirements near the DataMaster instrument.

Please feel free to contact Sgt. Perry Curtis at (517) 636-0217 or email to @michigan.gov.

Sincerely,

Kari Kusmierz, Captain
