Grant Reports

No Outstanding Issues reported this meeting

Current Grantee Report: Tony Wong – Individuals Planning for the Future is a state level project that will provide workshops, information and tools for families who are providing care for a family member who has DD. The project focuses on the families of people with DD who are eligible for services from the public mental health system, especially those who are not receiving services. Wong reported that:

  • Meetings have been held to develop curriculum – Elizabeth Jenks from DDI will be assisting, along with Dohn Hoyle and Ellen Hyman
  • In the process of developing tool kits specific to each region – will not contain guardianship information/materials
  • Working in six regions with

o SAIL, in the UPoAlpena

o Kent – ArcoBay – Arc

o Oakland – ArcoCalhoun - Arc

  • At this time Wong indicated that trainings will be conducted in the evenings and last approximately 2 hrs.
  • First year will be planning, identifying methods of operation and outreach will be completed the second year.

Committee members offered suggestions to Wong regarding potential places to recruit adults from; respite programs, hair salons.

Trommater asked Wong to supply a list of all partners.

Members reviewed the handout.

DD Suite

  • Grantee training will be January 26, 27, 28 in Lansing.
  • Grantees are asked to bring their first quarterly report and work plan on USB for entering directly into DD Suite.
  • 4-hr hands on training by Tracy Vincent and Tedra Jackson.

Cheryl will confirm if council or program committee members will have access to electronic files through DD Suite.

Planning Process

Ashley provided an update of Our Hopes.

  • The Strategy team has looked at several areas of emphasis and cross cutting topics - looking at strategies and recommendations.
  • The reports will be given to council members in April for discussion at the annual retreat in May.
  • Need clear process on how information will be used at the retreat.
  • Summary and recommendations would be the preferred report method – raw data will be too confusing and too much for most council members to go through.

RFP

  • Mini Grants will be posted the week of January 18.
  • This will be the first on-line application.
  • It is suggested that applicants prepare a written back up.

Meeting adjourned at 10:35am.
