6/98-2007: Senior Environmental Analyst, Massachusetts Dept. of Environmental Protection
Bureau of Resource Protection/Bureau of Waste Prevention
Lead compliance and enforcement of Chapter 91-Public Waterfront Act regulations. Work with waterfront project developers and other stakeholders to ensure public trust rights and water-dependent uses. From 1998-2000, in the Waste Planning Division; developed the Massachusetts Solid Waste Masterplan 2000.
2002- 2004Research Assistant, Urban Harbors Institute, University of Massachusetts, Boston
Conducted research on the problem of vessel sewage discharge in BostonHarbor and prepared a land protection plan for the WierRiverEstuaryPark. As a public policy research assistant, I researched renewable energy businesses for a study funded by Massachusetts Renewable Energy Trust.
1996-1998:Senior Planner, Boston Redevelopment Authority, Boston, Massachusetts.
Prepared transportation plans and neighborhood master plans. Supervised multi-disciplinary consultant teams. Conducted environmental review on proposed projects, land use surveys and analyses for rezoning (using GIS). Inter-agency coordination of planning projects/programs. Prepared bid requests and RFPs. Revised city zoning, formulated BRA position on zoning appeals.
1994-1995:Planner (Consultant), Adam, Teva v’Din - Israel Union for Environmental Defense, Tel Aviv, Israel. Promoted environmental justice in the planning and urban design sectors. Trained staff regarding planning law, methods and issues; conducted planning seminars and workshops. Prepared objections to plans based on environmental quality concerns.
1994-1995:Senior Planner, Ministry of the Interior, Central District, Israel.
Worked with staff of planners and architects as planner and environmental review coordinator. Reviewed and evaluated proposed regional and city plans for compliance to codes and environmental regulations. Briefed District Planning Commission regarding projects.
1991-1994:Environmental Planner, Conservation Department, Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel (SPNI). Coordinated involvement in national and regional planning and development. Developed natural resource sensitivity surveys using GIS. Prepared and presented SPNI’s position on development issues. Wrote and edited bimonthly SPNI newsletter sent to members and the planning community on current environmental issues.
