PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Self Employed, Houston, TX2015-2016

Engineering and Inspection Consulting

Currently working as a third party inspector for DNV-GL. Inspections consist of, but are not limited to, witness of non-destructive testing, pressure testing, dimensional analysis, prototype function testing, lightering hose testing, and other inspections as requested. Previously consulted for a small medical device design company where I created testing procedures to meet federal testing requirements for adhesive properties on neonatal devices.

BP, Houston, TX2012 -2015

Took part in BP’s Challenge rotational program that provided accelerated experience in both design and operate roles.

Subsea Operations Engineer(BP Role 3)2014 – 2015

Provided Thunder Horse Subsea Operations onshore/offshore support during commissioning, intervention and startup of newly installed equipment. Identified and resolved operational risks. Updated Subsea Operations SOP's to new standards and worked with stake holders to identify enhancements towards increase reliability.

  • Received cash bonus award for planning and executing a fast track choke change aligning new requirements and saving weeks of production losses (150,000 bbl / $1.8 M of delayed production).
  • Interfaced with manufacturer on new choke designs to enhance choke controllably and prevent choke wear allowing for higher production rates and increased time to replacement (2000 blpd / $24K/day production increases).

Global Subsea Hardware Onsite Engineer(BP Role 2)2013 – 2014

Oversaw delivery of subsea hardware from the manufacturer site while identifying and resolving manufacturing and planning hurdles of the supplier. Confirmed safety standards were being met and worked with BP Quality Engineering to resolve supplier issues or BP requirements.

  • Oversaw Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA)as the Site Engineer for BP. Hardware included subsea valves and hydraulic control pumps.
  • Created BP inspections for site arrival and exit of subsea hardware and tooling decreasing issues at installation.

Global Subsea Hardware Subsea Tree Delivery Engineer(BP Role 1)2012 –2013

Oversaw FEED of 23 tree,$130 million, project from the manufacturer to the BP Mad Dog 2 project team. Daily responsibilities includedreview of testing procedures to API and BP standards, BOMs, ITP, drawings, and scheduling.

  • Identified needs, created and implemented a temporary document tracking system reducing engineering costs by $2 million per year and reduced document cycle time from a 10 day to a 5 day average.
  • Created document identification and check off flow charts now used for clear audit trails by BP quality control.

FMC Technologies, Houston, TX2010 – 2011

Took part in FMC’sDesign Center Co-Op which offers industry and 3D CAD training. Assigned the Subsea Engineering teams with active tasks.

Engineering Co-Op(FMC Technologies)2010-2011

Updated procedural documents in line with current FMC and API safety standards and testing methods. Updated machine drawings to avoid machining errors, and worked with subsea tree engineers on P&ID’s.

  • Worked as an assembly technician in building of subsea tree valve components gaining hands on experience.
  • Updated gate valve drawings to allow for additional stem seals addressing customer requirements.
  • Identified root cause failure of gate seats during assembly and created initial sketches for an assembly tool to resolve issue.

Engineering Intern (FMC Technologies)Summer 2011

Assist the Global Manifolds team with high priority jobs and past due projects.

  • Created computational product design documents using ASME codes to confirm pressure vessel safety factors.
  • Modified procedures and completed API-6A, API-17D, and FMC tests on metallic/elastomeric seals.
  • Planned and completed acceptance testing ofa ROV deployable API Class 4 Bucket Lock-Out Tool.

Attachmate / NetIQ, Houston, TX2005 – 2010

Technical Support Engineer (Asia Pacific)

Assist customers and sales engineers with software installation, customization, usage, and troubleshooting problems. Document issues and create knowledge base articles for future customer and engineer reference.
