Research Interests

  • Investigating the influence of culture on medical decision-making, particularly, in the development and promotion of family medicine in Japan.
  • Developing innovative approaches to mixed methods research and disseminating the utility of mixed-methods research nationally and internationally.

Language Competence-Statement of Fluency in Japanese

Dr. Fetters is fluent in written and spoken Japanese, using Japanese daily in his role as Director of the Japanese Family Health Program. He is an author on multiple papers published in Japanese. In addition, he regularly teaches in Japanese about Family Medicine at medical schools and hospitals throughout Japan.
