This application form is for existing Implementing Partners to request funding from Cyan International to enable pre-project work (including baseline survey, mapping and initial project design).
It is expected that Implementing Partners receiving pre-project funding from Cyan will submit a full proposal to Cyan. However, Cyan can give no guarantee of funding.

Glossary of terms
Activities are the actual tasks to be done to achieve the desired outputs (short-term immediate results).
Baseline survey is a collection of relevant data before an intervention is begun; used as a mark to measure change against.
Empirical study is a record of clearly defined observations.
Goal means the wider development objective – the ultimate result toward which the project is contributing.
Implementing partner is the organisation applying for support under these guidelines and who will be responsible for the direct implementation of project activities.
Local community resources are the raw materials, facilities and skills which are present in the community and could be utilised within a project.
Local context is the consideration of political, social, environmental and economic aspects of the project area.
Objectives are the desired changes or results.
Official population figures is the best available record of the number of people living in a certain area. These may be available in local government offices, or from credible reports of other NGOs.
Participatory is used to refer to processes in which interested parties take an active part in planning and decision-making, implementation, learning and evaluation.
PLA (Participatory Learning and Action) / PRA (Participatory Rural Appraisal) are participatory planning exercises and needs assessments that allow local communities to set in context the change that they want to see happen.
Prevalence is the rate (%) that a specific condition is present within the population.
Problem is a negative issue or situation that a project is designed to help solve.
Projects are ‘stand alone’ activities aimed at a limited outcome.
Project design is the process of planning the activities, outputs, objectives and goal of the intended intervention.
Sample group is a selection of people from within the community to undertake survey work with. You will survey the same individuals throughout the project, and so capturing good quality contact details is important. The group size should be appropriate to the total number of intended beneficiaries.
Target community is the group of people your project intends to benefit.
Thematic area is the type of work the project will do, eg agriculture, education, health, justice.
Tools are methods, techniques and process for gathering information.
Triangulation is the collection of data from different sources, in order to check that the data you have collected is in line with similar data collected by others.
