MHS Girls’ Soccer

2012 Rules and Regulations

As a player for the Manhattan High School Girls’ Soccer team, I will adhere to the following:

1. Players will attend all practice and games as mandated by Coach Sanchez. These practices will occur Monday-Friday 4:15-6:15. Junior Varsity practice will end at 6:00 after the first week of tryouts. Also, Coach Sanchez reserves the right to hold Saturday practice/games if the team should need it. If you are unable to attend practice you will call Coach Sanchez prior to the start of practice. I can always be contacted at the following number: 785-220-9454. Failure to do so will result in loss of playing time and/or dismissal from the team.

2. Unexcused absences will not be tolerated. The consequences for an un-excused absence are:

*First offense-player will have to run 1 mile 5 times before they are allowed to play in a game.

*Second offense-player will not be allowed to participate in 40 minutes of

game.

*Third offense-player will not be allowed to participate in 80 minutes of

game.

*Fourth offense-player will be dismissed from the team.

*Coach Sanchez will determine in which game the minute penalty is enforced.

Sudden illness or some other emergency would constitute a good reason for missing a practice or game. Any other reason will be considered an un-excused practice.

3. All players will travel on the bus to and from away games unless pre-approved by Coach Sanchez and Mr. Marsh. For home games, players will be expected to provide their own transportation to and from games. Players will also be expected to arrive at least one hour prior to game time unless otherwise noted by Coach Sanchez. JV players will stay and watch all Varsity games and may be assigned to at least one game as a ball girl.

4. Players will be expected to maintain the dignity and honor of their position on the

MHS soccer team. Do not do anything to embarrass the school or the program. Players will be expected to maintain a level of sportsmanship both on and off the field. On the field, only Coach Sanchez and captains will be permitted to speak with the referee.

5. Players have the right to receive an assessment of their playing abilities. If you have a question, don’t hesitate to see Coach Sanchez. During practice, before a game, or during a game is not an appropriate setting, be sure to see him after practice or some other pre-arranged time. Concerns or questions regarding playing time or any other soccer issues needs to be addressed with the coach by the player first. Only after visiting with the player, will Coach Sanchez visit with the player’s parent.

6. Coach Sanchez reserves the right to ask any JV or Varsity player to move up or down at ANY time during the season.

7. Lettering will be determined on an individual basis.

8. All players understand and accept the conditions set forth in the Manhattan High

School Athletic Codes Policies.

9. Drug and alcohol abuse will NOT be tolerated. We will follow the Manhattan High School Athletic Codes Policy regarding these issues. Coach Sanchez also reserves the right to set forth additional consequences if a student athlete is involved with drug or alcohol abuse.

As a player, I fully understand the above requirements and agree to follow these guidelines.
