PRUDENT MOTORIST AWARD

The “Prudent Motorist Award” is open to all MOCNA members for a $5 fee. The Prudent Motorist Award is in NOWAY intended to be a safety check, nor should it be construed as a safety endorsement by MOCNA or the Judging Team. All operations checks will be done by the owner, or his/her designee, but never by the judge.

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT

  1.  Horn: Hi and Low tones (both must blow).
  2.  Low Oil Pressure & No Charge Lights: Lights on with ignition switch on, motor not running.
  3.  Low Oil Pressure & No Charge Lights: Lights go out with motor idling.
  4.  Headlights: Both high beams work.
  5.  Headlights: Both low beams work.
  6.  Headlights: High beam indicator on when high beams are on.
  7.  License Plate Light: On with headlights and/or parking lights
  8.  Left Turn Signal: Front/Rear – Both must work (Turn signal must be lower half of taillight.)
  9.  Right Turn Signal: Front/Rear – Both must work (Turn signal must be lower half of taillight.)
  10.  Turn Signal Indicator: Flashes for both left and right signals.
  11.  Heater Fan: Off and on – low & high speed.
  12.  Cigar Lighter: Pops out & hot (glows red).
  13.  Radio: Original appearance (may be modified). Must bring in at least one station.
  14.  Choke: Must activate carburetor when pulled.
  15.  Rear View Mirror: (Inside) must be useable, hold positions.
  16.  Hand Brake: Must hold car.
  17.  Shift Pattern: Should shift smoothly.
  18.  Hood Latch: Must be free of cracks.
  19.  Door Locks: Both doors must lock.
  20.  Tires: Minimum of 3/32 inch tread. (The thickness of a penny to Lincoln’s head.)
  21.  Steering: No excessive play – 2” radius maximum.
  22.  Brakes: No leaks. Check pedal travel (no bottoming out).
  23.  Shock Absorbers: Car should bounce no more than 3 times.
  24.  Spare Tire: Must have at least 28 psi.
  25.  Windshield Wipers: Arms & blades rotate freely. Blades not torn.
  26.  Exhaust system: NO LEAKS. Must exit rear of car.
  27.  Glass: No cracked or broken glass.
  28.  Fuel System: NO LEAKS.
  29.  Seat adjustment: Must latch in positions.
  30.  Sun visors: Must hold adjustment
  31.  Pull to start: No push buttons.
  32.  Under Dash Light Switch: Must work with slide switch.
  33.  Jack/Handle: Jack must be original type, screw jack and handle.
