Meta-analysis Persona Document
My main goals were:
· Create instructions that are clear and easy to follow during the test
· Allow the user to perform the actions again without the document after reading it
· To have pictures that coincide with the text and allow the user to test the document
· To introduce tablets to the user
The instrument used is an Asus Eepad Transformer 101. It’s running Ice cream Sandwich, Google’s latest Android operation system. The device uses a touch screen and the NVidia Tegra 2 Processor. It connects to Google’s Market to download Apps and is very light, while still including a front and back facing camera.
The user will have the tablet beside them and the instructions on a computer or printed out to follow step by step. The user should first read the instructions and then follow them step by step. This will allow the user to take the initiative sometimes and will promote experimentation.
The best way to test this document is to have an individual handle the device and use the instructions to navigate the device. I plan to bring the device to the person testing it and have them first read the instructions and then follow them step by step with the device.
Personas
Joan Smith
Joan smith is a white 81 year old female, which is currently retired. She graduated High School, but did not attend a University. Her income is less than $29,000 a year. She lives in the south-eastern United States and has a very low computer literacy level. She has no experience with computers and is very hostile towards technology. She enjoys watching old TV shows, the news, reality TV, and Game shows. She is a kind woman. She was given a tablet for Christmas and wishes to learn how to watch TV on it.
Billy Bob
Billy is an elementary school student. He is a white male and 7 years old. He lives in the North-Eastern United States. He has no income, but has a high computer literacy level. His main interest is having fun. He enjoys games, cartoons, and a wide variety of other TV shows. He is very agreeable to technology and is constantly using it every day. He was recently given a tablet for his birthday and wants to know how to install games on it.
Hannah Klien
Hannah is a white single female that lives in the South-Western region of the United States. She is 38 and is a college graduate. She has very high computer literacy and is very dependent on technology. Her job causes her to fly across the US. She makes $64,000 a year and has a neutral attitude towards technology. She enjoys old TV shows reality TV, movies, and casual games. She is interested in buying a tablet, because of its long battery life and portability. Before she buys she wants to know how to use it.
