Transition period for full implementation / There is no specific timeframe for applying free trade arrangements between the Central American countries to 100% of products; however, pursuant to Art. XXXI, Chap. XI, of the General Treaty on Central American Economic Integration,the Treaty shall remain effective for a period of 20 years from the date of its entry into force and shall be indefinitely.

Goods-related provisions / Customs tariff and regime, uniform customs code, regulations on the origin of goods, safeguard measures, dispute settlement mechanism, sanitary and phytosanitary measures
Services-related provisions / A Treaty on Investment and Trade in Services has been negotiated between the States Parties involved in the integration process; a Protocol of Amendment was subsequently negotiated and signed on 22 February 2007. This Protocol entered into effect for El Salvador and Honduras on 20 June 2008. In the case of Guatemala, it has been before the Congress of the Republic since May 2008.
