Introductions were made and a special thank you and congratulations to Doug Felkley on his upcoming retirement from the Boulder Flyers.

Meet Calendar for 2016-2017 – Calendar was discussed and decided upon. Discussion about changing the state meets to hosting 4-5 together and 6-10 together. One issue brought up was that the level 6-10 state meet is more expensive to host, mainly because of the number of awards that must be purchased. And the largest numbers are in the levels 4 and 5. One option discussed was to increase the entry fee for level 6-10 to help offset that cost. Motion was made by Dean McCollum to set the entry fees at $80 for the level 4-5 and $100 for the level 6-10. Vote was called for and passed.

State Meet Committee –It was discussed that there should be a committee that decides who gets the bid for the state meet. It was voted on and passed that the 4-person committee will be JR Jaquay, Doug Felkley, Beth Trammell and Erik Oldham. If there is a tie, Nate Ragland (State Chair) will have the tie breaking vote.

State meet Bid – Bids for 2017 State meets are due to Nate on or before Sept. 10th and the meets will be awarded on Dec. 1st. Wyoming may join our state meets for 2017.

Level 4 State meet – Nate asked for input about how the new system for level 4 awards at State was received. (Achievement awards on each event and placement in AA for each age). There was a motion that the awards will be kept the same for both Div. 1 and Div. 2 for 2017. It was voted on and passed. Nate also encouraged everyone to continue to use the same for local meets. It was noted that the ribbon score ranges will need to change due to the rule changes for the upcoming season.

New USAGym Rules and Overview – the new levels and divisions and how to implement those for meets was discussed. The new age date is the age that the gymnast will be on May 31st following the season (so May 31, 2017 for this season). If the gymnast is still in high school then they will be allowed to compete.

  • For Division 1 and 2, athletes can change back and forth until State. They must compete at Regionals in whatever division they competed at State.
  • There are no age limits for levels 4-7.
  • There will be a Regional allotment for all divisions and levels (except 4)
  • JE – will stay similar to what it is current and only applies to State, Regionals and Nationals.
  • JD – similar to Open Optional. Ages are 12-14, 15-18. They can still qualify to Regionals.

It was discussed that we will need new entry forms for the meets to designate the different divisions and Optional levels. Currently, USAGym does not have the new JD in their system yet, Nate will check on that in order to get the boys registered properly.

Regional update – Mark updated everyone on the Regional meet and team camp.

  • 2017 Regionals will be held in Utah on March 31st – April 2nd.
  • Bids for 2018 are due by Feb. 1st, 2017.
  • There have been a few changes made in order to make Regionals more profitable to the host club.
  • Entries fees are still paid to the Region
  • $5000 is given to the host club
  • Up to $8000 will be given to cover the cost of an outside facility
  • Door fee, Concessions and T-shirt monies are all collected by the host club
  • Regionals is still planned to be a 3 day event with 8-9 sessions. It can be held the first or second weekend in April (2nd weekend preferred)
  • Team Camps
  • There will no longer be a Regional level 6-7 camp. Those levels should be handled by the states.
  • The 8-10 camp was held at the OTC on July 28-31st.
  • There will be a Winter camp held in late December and the Elite team will be determined at that time.
