The Northernaires Drum & Bugle Corpsis on a donation drive to raise funds for the 2010 season and to host their home show,“Drums In The North”, on Sunday, April 18, 2010at the Menominee High School Gym. The goal is to raise $5,000 to cover the show, equipment, uniform, and travel costs.
The 2009 season was a great success as the Northernaires placed first in the Small Drum Corps Association (SDCA) standings and hosted the “Drums In The North” show which was voted “Best Show” by the SDCA organization! Next year the corps has been invited to participate in the Heartland Tattoo at the Chicago Sears Center which is a large music festival with military bands and drum and bugle corps. TheNorthernaires will also compete in about 8 contests and 6 parades in Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Illinois including a contest hosted by their long time rival, the Ishpeming Blue Notes, who will also appear at the “Drums In The North” show.
The Northernaires is a member of the Small Drum Corps Association (SDCA) and is under the umbrella of The Northernaires Marching and Music Groups, Inc., which is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and has been active since 1953!Membership in the corps ranges from 9 to 69 years young, boy, girl, male or female, and is family oriented. The corps teaches individuals self discipline, respect, marching, dance, and music education. The corps also sponsors BSA Venture Crew #9352 for young men and women age 14 to 21 for enhanced music education. Your tax-deductible donation will also be published in the “Drums In The North” show program and on our website at which includes the corps history, pictures, and sounds. Your donation is much needed and greatly appreciated!
