MENGEL’S ‘MINDERS: 9/7/10

  1. GOOD JOB FRIDAY NIGHT: Our band did an excellent job at the first football game of the season this past Friday night at Conestoga. We looked good, sounded good, and conducted ourselves with a professional attitude. Keep up the good work, everyone!!!
  2. BAND JACKET ORDERS DUE FRIDAY: Orders are being taken now for the 2010 OJR Band Jacket and are due this Friday, Sept. 10th. The jacket style was changed for this year to an Under Armour. Sample jacket sizes are available to try on in Mr. Mengel’s office. If you are interested in ordering a band jacket, please stop in to try one on for size and complete the attached order form. Mrs. Wendy Dorfler is in charge of the jacket orders this year and if you have any questions you can contact Mrs. Dorfler at or at 610-970-7993.
  3. CHEESECAKE/COOKIE DOUGH FUNDRAISER: Just a reminder that we are still in the middle of our first major fundraiser of the year for the OJR Music Parents. (Profits from this fundraiser will go to the MPO.) The fundraiser started on Tuesday, Aug. 17th, and orders are due by Monday, Sept. 13th. Delivery is sometime during the week of Sept. 27th. Thanks to OJR Bandparents Liz Willow and Cindy Martorana for organizing this major fundraiser for the band parents.   4. BAND UNIFORMS: Just a reminder to please make sure the band uniforms always come home after every performance and they are either hung up neatly or taken to the dry-cleaner if necessary. Wearing a clean, neatly pressed uniform is important to the image that we want our band to present. Our band parent uniform committee did a great job fitting all band members for their uniforms during the second week of band camp. Many thanks to the head of the committee, Mrs. Dannelle Gerhart and to the following mothers who came out to assist: Nanciann Woodward, Penny Sallade, Joyce Gradel, Denise Challenger, Pamela Hankins, Nancy Miller, and Erin Schneider.
  5. BAND PARENT THANKS: Many thanks to our dedicated band parents for all of the things they do to help give our band members a positive experience, including: providing water during band camp and at football games, helping with our pit percussion equipment during practices and performances, helping to load and unload our trailers when we travel to games & competitions, etc. Our parents play such an important part in our success and it is always very much appreciated.
  6. FALL SCHEDULE UPDATE: Our fall performance schedule has recently been updated with a few changes and was emailed out to all band members last week. Attached here is another copy.
  7. PRINTER CARTRIDGE & CELL PHONE COLLECTION REMINDER: Just a reminder that the band parents have an on-going fundraiser which is the collection of used ink-jet printer cartridges and old cell phones. This has been raising a good deal of funds for the organization, so please consider saving those old cartridges and bring them in. A collection box is outside Mr. Mengel’s office in the band room.
