Men’s Soccer: Santa Ana Increases First-Place Lead With 4-1 Win Over Fullerton

SANTA ANA, CA – Santa Ana College increased its first-place lead in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) men’s soccer standings with a 4-1 win over second-place FullertonCollege, Tuesday. The Dons (18-1-1, 9-1-1 OEC), ranked fourth in the nation, extended its lead in the conference standings to five points over Fullerton and set their sights on a 12th straight OEC title with three matches to play.

Hugo Ramos scored a goal and assisted on another to lead Santa Ana. The Dons also received single goals from Richardo Juarez, Omar Ramos and Brandon Novoa.

Santa Ana jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first 31 minutes of the match on Tuesday. Richardo Juarez opened the Dons scoring in the ninth minute off a crossing pass from Marcelino Palacias. Omar Ramos made it a 2-0 affair when he drove home Hugo Ramos’ pass in the box in the 20th minute. In the 31st minute Hugo Ramos scored an assisted goal when he beat Fullerton goalkeeper Carlos Guerra after Guerra tried to stop his throw from the keeper’s box.

Fullerton cut the Dons’ lead to 3-1 at halftime Jonathan Greig’s goal in the 42nd minute.

Santa Ana scored the only goal of the second half when Brandon Novoa capped the scoring with a goal in the 83rd minute off a pass from Alejandro Torres.

Cesar Aceves finished with four saves for the Dons while giving up just one goal.
