Memory Walk Volunteer (Telephone Support)

This is an outline of what your role with the Society may involve. You will have the opportunity to discuss this in more detail.

Where, when and how often?
This volunteer role is with the Memory Walk team, which is a part of the National Events team at Alzheimer’s Society. We are ideally looking for someone who can give a few days during the period of 2 June – 11 July (if you are interested but can offer less time, please do still get in touch). This role is based at our central office nearSt Katharine’s Dock, London.
How does the role make a difference?
Memory Walk is the Society’s flagship fundraising event. In 2014 we are hoping to have 33,000 walkers help us raise an amazing £1.8million to fight dementia.
You will provide a key role in supporting recruitment of walkers for Memory Walk and offering excellent supporter care.
What will I be doing?
You will be calling supporters who have requested more information about Memory Walk after watching our TV advert. The TV advert will be running from June – July in three regions (Wales and West, Yorkshire, Ulster). The advert asks people to text WALK to 88080 for more information. You will help us call those who have requested more information but have not registered, offering more information and advice and the option to sign them up over the phone.
Is this role for me?
The role may be ideal for you if you:
•Have good IT Skills.
•Have good verbal communication and listening skills
•Good attention to detail
What do I have to do before I can start?

How will I be supported during my volunteering?
You will be supported by a Memory Walk Officer/Assistant. You will also receive one-to-one’s. Agreed out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed, such as travel.
