Membership of In Control Scotlandfor Providers

Who we are and what do we do?

InControlScotlandis a independent registered charity which exists to support and promote the development of a sustainable system of self directed support in Scotland. We believe people are experts in their own lives and should be supported to take control, make choices and fulfill their roles as citizens by directing their own support. Our work is funded through membership fees, training and consultancy income and from Scottish Government grants for projects to support the implementation of the national strategy and Self Directed Support Act.

InControlScotland works withproviders to support the cultural, systems and practice changes required tosuccessfully implementa system of self directed support. Our approach is to work co-operatively alongside provider organisations, local authorities, people who use social care services and their families. We believe that only by really working together in this way will we be able to establish a sustainable system of self directed support that is both effective and efficient.

Our work with providers focusses on:

  • developing the capacity, knowledge, experience and belief to support people to be in control and get more of the lives and support they want.
  • Sharing experience, tools, systems and practice that works and the key components of the changerequired, through training, events and individual support
  • Creating helpful connections between organisations and people

Since our inception, we have worked with both large and small provider organisations in all parts of Scotland to develop this way of working
