Members Reappointed to Fife NHS Board

The Cabinet Secretary for Health and Sport today announced the reappointment of Christine Cooper and Martin Black as Members of Fife NHS Board.

MEMBERS

Christine Cooperhas a keen interest in work which is diverse and challenging and will make a real difference in people’s lives. She has worked in a range of roles across all sectors managing and delivering a portfolio of innovative programmes including: mental health, dementia, sensory services, carers support, homelessness, independent advocacy and reshaping care for older people. Her academic expertise includes a Master of Arts Degree in Health & Welfare and a Diploma in Health Care.Christine is currently the Team Manager for Healthcare and Wellbeing for the Health & Social Care Partnership in Dundee; as part of the local Third Sector Interface.

Martin Blackis a retired Senior Community Learning and Development Worker where he worked primarily in areas of multiple deprivation. Martin also worked for a few years in the Strategic Planning Department of a Local Authority. He is studying at present for an Open University Honours Degree in History, and also has a degree in Community Education from Strathclyde University. Martin brings to the Board experience from various Health, Education and Care projects with Adults and Young People and he is skilled in Community Engagement, Consultation and Development in a variety of settings. He also brings previous board experience as Vice Chair of a National Charity based in York and experience of focusing on addiction. Martin has also been on many management committees in a Director of Educations representative role, and was also on a working party to set up a supporters trust for professional football club.

REAPPOINTMENT

Thereappointments will be for four years and will run from 1 January 2018 to 31 December 2021.

Thereappointments are regulated by the Commissioner for Ethical Standards in Public Life in Scotland.

REMUNERATION

Thereappointments arepart-timeand attract a remuneration of £8,169 for a time commitment of one day per week.

OTHER MINISTERIAL APPOINTMENTS

Mrs Cooper and Mr Black do not hold any other ministerial public appointments.

POLITICAL ACTIVITY

All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees’ political activity within the last five years (if there is any to be declared) to be made public.

Mrs Cooper and Mr Black have had no political activity in the last five years.
