Chairs Report

  • Welcome to Sally Bush and Veronica Thorn founder members of the club.
  • Minutes of the 2013 AGM; These have been available on the website for some time and have been signed off by Catherine Withers.
  • Membership numbers are down, further reporting from Kaz Crew and Sam Mantzos.
  • Chew Stoke Horse Show run under the BMRC banner was again a very successful show, thank you Hannah Pearce for all her hard work in getting this show of the ground again. We are unsure if we will be able to commit to the future of the show as we have hit a major obstacle with the Harvest Home Committee as they expect a much greater proportion of the profits than was at first agreed.
  • Members days were a huge success this year, run by Laura Davis. Laura is however standing down due to other commitments and 2014 Members Days will be taken over by new member Tracey Rogers.
  • Area 12 – it has been a good year for BMRC in Area 12, Taunton came out the victors overall, we weren’t really keep up to date with all results, so congratulations to everyone that competed.

Catherine Withers has a list of results if there is any interest.

Suggestions were made on swopping the payments around to pay for the championships rather that the prelim fees, Rachael Butler disagreed with this and said that unless you are really keen then you probably wouldn’t compete.

  • 25th January 2015 – Combined Training qualifiers at Pontispool
  • Next year £11 per person of the membership fees will go directly to HO for admin and insurance. We have decided not to put up membership fees.
  • We have some information on a new competition called Showsage – combined dressage and showing – there is also more of a push towards showing. Kim will look into this as she has an interest in showing.
  • 7th March 2015 we are running Area 12 at Kings Sedgemoor EC, we need volunteers to help run this and competitors.
  • Should we have one or two camps a year or one? Hannah has done a superb job on these camps but we have made a loss on them, committee will be looking into why these are making a loss in more detail.we would be interested in your comments i.e. maybe try for different dates etc.
  • We will continue to run lessons and cater for all abilities within the club, if you have any suggestions for lessons which we are not catering for at the moment, please feel free to contact the lesson planners with your comments.
  • Winter dressage was a huge success this year, thank you to everyone who attended come rain or shine. If anyone would like to take over the running of next year’s winter dressage please put yourself forward.
  • Grace Sheppard is new to the committee and has produced the newsletter, great improvement but she does need stories and results to go into it so get in touch.
  • BMRC Ball was a huge success, thank you to Steph Parson for our hard work in organizing this, everyone looked fabulous.
  • Club Merchandise is still available with some smashing club numnahs, polo shirts and jackets.
  • The club is in a financially sound position at present although some activities have lost money this year. It seems the major deficits are Area 12 and Camp. We will try to raise funds through 2015.
  • We have had a few changes on the committee this year but we still strive to make this club the best it can be for its members.
  • Sarah Barnes is running a SJ Comp between xmas and new year, anyone interested in helping or competing please contact Sarah direct.

Any Other Business

  • Wording on the Busby trophy needs changing so that it reads rider and horse combination rather than rider with most points. Sally Busby agreed with this change.
  • Sally Busby mentioned that we no longer run dressage to music. Catherine Withers has looked into this and it is very expensive.
  • Hilary Barnard was at Mendip Plain EC in Ston Easton and was thinking about the running of Day Rallies there, it is thought to be expensive but maybe something we should into anyway.

Meeting closed at 21.00pm
