MINUTES FROM THE14 JUNE 16MEETING:

Themonthly meeting held at the Lyon’s Den was called to order at 1915hrs, chaired by Bob Hemphill.

Members Present: -Bob Hemphill, Russ Hellberg,Lou Lepine and Jim Pollock.

Adoption of To-Nights Agenda: -Moved by Russ Hellberg and 2nd byLou Lepine to accept to-nights agenda: - MOTION………………….CARRIED.

Adoption of the 10 May 16Minutes: - Moved by Lou Lepineand 2ndby Russ Hellbergto accept the minutes as presented: - MOTION………CARRIED.

OLD BUSINESS:

(1)Visit to 888Wing: -A lot of business was accomplished during our time down there. Members from 19Wing were also attended. 888Wing also gave wide coverage to the return of the shoe saver trophy on their website.

(2)Membership Renewal: - All our current members have beaten the dead line and have renewed their memberships.

(3)BC War Memorial Site: -All our sites have been sent to this site to be registered.

(4)New 2nd vice at 888Wing: - Dean Maxwell plans to come up to one of meeting in July or Aug.

(5)Trophy Management: - Retuned back to the wing in great condition and in great style done up in its own case complete with a glass lid

(6)Stock’s Portrait: - Jim Benninger suggested that we sent a print to Gatineau and the original to the Chief of Staff at RCAF headquarters in Ottawato hang in their board room.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

(1)Membership Report: - Holding at 23.

(2)Treasurer’s Report: - At the last meeting the Sqn had $1329.53 on hand. Income to date – 0.03c Interest plus $2000.00 brought in from the high interest account. Expenses: - $160.70 - travel expenses to attend the PCAGM. $269.16 - for the Sandspit and MassetAirport Plaques. $1522.50 - for the AllifordBay Plaque. $71.06 - to ship these plaques to Haida Gwaii via Air Canada. $260.00 - for the food trays put out for the MassetAirport reception. Total $2283.42. Sqn Account now $1046.14. Cenotaph Account $6886.87.

(3)Memorial Weekend: - On track for the 24th and 25th September. Holberg plaque dedications on the 24th and dinner at the Ibis, then the Battle of Britain parade on the morning of the 25th. 19 Wing personnel will be coming up via bus.

(4)Haida Gwaii Dedications: - At Sandspit and Masset the dedications went off with out a hitch, except our stay at Masset was cut short as the aircraft was needed back at Comox ASAP. It was moved by Russ Hellberg and 2nd by Lou Lepine that the Sqn pay the $420.00 limo bill for transporting our party from the Sandspit airport to Alliford Bay and back – MOTION……………………………CARRIED.

(5)Cenotaph Rebuilding: - All necessary forms have been sent in to the district Russ has ask for a copy of all the forms. Legion meeting on this subject - 19 Jun 16 @ 2PM.

(6)Website: -Trying to make it more user friendly. At the moment Bob is putting on all the known locations of the WWII RCAF stations in our area.

(7)Maintenance of Memorials: - The Knock weed at CoalHarbour has been cut back. We do notneed to go to Port Alice to replace the worn out flag as the Legion there has already done it.

(8)Scholarships: - All presented, Jim King was at PHSS and NISS personnel did the honours there.

NEW BUSINESS:

(1)Queen’s 90th Birthday: - The RCAFA will be sending a list withpeople names, or unit names so 101 Sqn will be put on the RCAFA list.

(2)Move Finances: - Need to move $2500.00 from the high interest account to our working account to cover the costs for the Holberg plaque and the scholarship requests that will be coming in this summer. Moved by Lou Lepine and 2nd by Russ Hellberg that this is carried out – MOTION…………………………CARRIED.

(3)01 JulyPort McNeill Parade: - 101 Sqn colour party to be there for 10am, parade route is one block long only.

(4)Cenotaph Fundraising: - Will have to persuade the Port Hardy Legion that they could do afund raising campaign during Filomi Days next month.

(5)Jackets: - On going, Canex will not give a discount for a bulk buy.

(6)Presentation on RCAF/CAF Aircraft: - Sold his home and moved down Island. Let it be known that he is not off the hook trying to escape by moving.

The next meeting will be at 1900hrs on the 12th Jul 16 at the Lyon’s Den.
