2015 IFPE CONFERENCE PROPOSAL SUBMISSION FORM

Thank you for your interest in the 2015 IFPE Conference, Vulnerability and Its Discontents. Please take a moment to read through this entire form. Any proposal submitted without the fully completed form will be returned for more information – and only if time allows. Incomplete proposals are ineligible for consideration.

CONFERENCE PRESENTATIONS

IFPE encourages full attendee participation.

·  Individual Presentations* are limited to a maximum of twenty (20) minutes for the presentation portion, to allow for ample discussion time in the dialogue between presenter and attendees.

·  Panels:* A typical panel is one hour thirty minutes in length, with each presenter limited to 20 minutes maximum. Proposals must have minimum of 3 participants to qualify as a panel. Occasionally, some further time alterations may be necessitated by overall conference scheduling.

*Please Note: At the discretion of the conference committee, individual presentations with related or synergistic themes may be combined into a panel format. Proposals with 2 participants or that otherwise request an atypical time slot may be submitted, but will be scheduled at the discretion of the conference committee. Final decision on choice of format (individual, dialoguing, other) resides solely with the co-chairs.

Accepted papers may be circulated in advance to allow for greater informality at the time of the presentation at the discretion of the presenter. However, not all presentations are papers and, at IFPE conferences, presentations may take various forms. Feel free to work from your proposal premise to engage in a conversation with the audience from the outset.

A conference booklet will be distributed to all participants and registrants at the time of the conference that will contain abstracts, brief biographies and contact information. SUMMARIES WILL ALSO BE POSTED ON THE IFPE WEB SITE. The conference is conducted in English. Bilingual or multilingual proposals must be accompanied by an English translation.

All presenters must register for the conference within 10 days of notification of acceptance, when early-bird rates will apply.

The Conference will take place November 5 – 7, 2015 in Philadelphia, PA.

Note regarding Continuing Education Credits: IFPE exists outside the organizational traditions of psychoanalysis, with neither authority to “authenticate” training nor favors to bestow; beholden to no parent institution, specific theoretical persuasion or particular professional discipline; offering only the opportunity to meet and dialogue with colleagues and others on safe ground as we consider the human condition (including our own) from all perspectives. It is therefore an issue of both congruence and integrity that we do not offer Continuing Education Credits.

Certificates of attendance are available to be emailed to attendees after the conference, upon request.

While membership is not required either to present or to participate at IFPE conferences, in situations necessitating choices among multiple worthy proposals, preference may be given to those proposals submitted by members. Barnes Foundation Art Collection Excursion Option: Surveying your interest in participating in an IFPE group trip to the Barnes on November 6th (Friday evening) with transportation likely to be provided. E.  Audio Visual Request: As a forum for direct and meaningful dialogue, IFPE does not encourage A/V based proposals. Audio-visual elements, if allowed, must be MAC-based or MAC-compatible. All requests for A/V equipment will be evaluated by the Program Committee. Note: Power Point will not be accepted, except for assistance in bi-lingual presentations.
