JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: General Supervisor - Sysonby Acres Leisure Park

WORKING HOURS:Full Time/Flexible hours

SERVICE: Sports & Leisure

RESPONSIBLE TO:Chief Executive/Town Bailiff.

RESPONSIBLE FOR:Site Management and staff working at Sysonby Acres.

MAIN PURPOSE OF POST

To manage the day to day operations of the caravan site, the golf/FootGolf course, reception and the Waterford room delivering a first class service to customers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Policies, Systems and Information

All duties and responsibilities must be undertaken in compliance with Melton Mowbray Town Estate (MMTE) policies/procedures.

  1. To implement operational policies and procedures for the MMTE sport and leisure functions at the Sysonby Acres.
  2. To identify, develop and maintain adequate information systems to ensure the timely production of management information as defined by the Board and the CEO.
  1. Performance Management
  1. To comply with and contribute to operational and individual service targets which may be set by the CEO.
  2. To formulate, implement, monitor and review a daily & monthly work schedule for the centre including cleaning, maintenance, clerical and administrative functions.
  1. Management of Resources
  1. To pursue a commercial approach to the provision of facilities at the centre, identifying and responding to changes in patterns of customer needs and expectations.
  2. To monitor revenue income to ensure costs are kept within service budget provision and to continuously seek to increase income, achieve efficiencies and reduce unnecessary costs.
  3. To effectively manage all buildings, equipment, and materials to ensure their effective use and the safety of staff and visitors. This will include minor repairs and maintenance and general cleaning.

  1. To provide effective supervisionto administrative staff employed at Sysonby Acres and grounds staff jointly with Grounds Supervisor.
  2. To manage the staff rota and ensure the centre is adequately staffed to effect the efficient and safe operation of the centre taking into account fluctuation in demand.
  3. To implement Melton Mowbray Town Estate’s complaints policy and procedure.
  4. To identify any training/development needs required to ensure the ongoing competence of self and staff involved in service delivery.

  1. To be proactive in seeking feedback from customers and staff which will positively impact on the quality of the service.
  2. To ensure that customer focus is promoted as a core value by all staff.
  3. To ensure the sports and leisure service complies with all statutory requirements and MMTE policies in respect of safeguarding vulnerable persons.
  1. General
  1. To maintain and promote safe working practices through the development and implementation of appropriate safety management systems and ensure staff adhere to Health and Safety guidance and legislation. Ensure the timely and thorough investigation of any accidents and ensure that any recommendations are implemented.
  2. To manage cash receipts in accordance with procedures agreed with Office Administrator (finance)
  3. To manage on and off-line bookings for caravanning and golf/FootGolf.
  4. To manage bookings for Waterford room and catering arrangements where required.
  5. To be responsible for the accurate and timely submission of time sheets for all staff.
  6. To prepare reports for MMTE as required by the Chief Executive/Town Bailiff and attend meetings with MMTE members as necessary.
  7. To attend such training and development as may be required for the successful implementation of this role.
  8. To implement all relevant corporate policies and procedures relating to the management of Sysonby Acres and its staff including the Equal Opportunities Policy, the Health and Safety Policy, and Financial Regulations.

SPECIAL FEATURES OF THE POST

This post requires a flexible approach to time of work, with ability to work evenings and weekends as required by the demands of the service.

QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING
1 / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in the field of Sport/Leisure & Recreation or Supervisory/management (or a commitment to obtain one within 12 months of appointment). / E
2 / NVQ Level 3 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace or equivalent (or a commitment to obtain one within 12 months of appointment). / E
EXPERIENCE Demonstrable extensive experience of:
1 / Employment and/or experience in sports & leisure Centres. / E
2 / Strong commercial awareness. / E
3 / Appreciation of the need for change and development, with adaptable continuous improvement approach. / E
4 / Budget management including managing an established budget, improving income generation and reducing operating costs / E
5 / A commitment to respecting and valuing equality, diversity and social inclusion. / E
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/ATTRIBUTES
1 / Knowledge and experience of sport and leisure management and any relevant legislation, guidance and best practice. / E

3 / Excellent interpersonal/communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels within the Melton Mowbray Town Estate (MMTE) organisation and service users both orally and in writing. / E
